Picked one of these up earlier from Currys, was looking for a shaver anyway and had some money left on a gift card so perfect for me!

I missed the £60 offer at amazon for one of these shavers. I have long used a regular blade and various pre/post shave treatments. This shaver fits the bill of lowering my overall shave "bill" and still provides me an irritation free shave. As a unit I can't rate this highly enough.

However .. I phoned the number specified on the price match promise page on Currys website. cutting it short I requested that I pop into a store to pick up the shaver and save the P&P, the sales rep reserved one at the target store and gave me a reference number.

All conditions were met .. an argos within 10 miles of the Currys store had 3 units in stock. I printed out everything and dropped in. The first sales assistant I approached listened to my claim and then commented that I should "never trust the system" when handing him my reference number. He then looked puzzled at the "price promise" offer. I had to point out the posted behind him which had all the details on.

He then checked for stock on the shopfloor and advised that they were out of stock. I mentioned that I had phoned their head office and been told that the store was showing as having stock. The sales (un)assistant shrugged and went off to talk to the manager. I contacted the original number and explained the situation to another sales rep. At this point the original sales assistant turns up and tells me that "there might be some out the back, we had a fresh delivery last night"!!! Before the ordeal is over, the sales assistant has complained that they lose money on offers like this and keep my paperwork to "reclaim" the difference from headoffice.

The final straw was that the sales assistant price matched but forgot to take off the 10% And even after I corrected him he charged me 10% of £75 not £78.50!!! It seems to me that the staff at Currys, Riveria Way, Torquay have not received sufficient training on the "price match promise" policy. And perhaps they need some reassurance from headoffice that they won't lose their profit margin and therefore remove the need to hide stock from customers. :-)
