I've got this dvd player and it has played everything I've got so far, including divx movies on a memory stick through the usb port. Good deal.

Does it have usb 2 port?
#6
No, it's 1.1
#7
Whats the differance?

Speed of data transfer.
USB2 ports are much faster than 1 or 1.1.

Explains why some people have problems playing movies with high bitrates from the USB memory sticks.

USB 2.0 has a raw data rate at 480Mbps, and it is rated 40 times faster than its predecessor interface, USB 1.1, which tops at 12Mbps.

Is there a significant picture quality increase by upscaling to 1080i???

As i will only get one if it does

Do any players upscale to 1080p?

Yes, Philips do a DVP5980 which does & is usually a decent price on Amazon. I have the DVP5960 (as my TV only does 1080i) & it is well worth the money.

good deal, is there cheap (reasonable) divx dvd player that has usb 2.0? please link the site
#14
usb 1.1 does let it down, i find it lags behind sometimes on HD DivX.
Other than that its a good player. :) easily updated too.

I've got this DVD player and although it's a good player, the remote control is terrible. So bad I've had to buy a universal one for it.
Having said that, it's at a good price at the moment so if you're willing to buy (or already have) a universal remote control it's well worth the money.

(I did buy this DVD player about 6 months ago and I know that Phillips had a fair few complaints about the remote so they might have improved it since I bought it anyway)

All gone now, unless you count marketplace at loads more money

Check out the Sumvision Phoenix, posted earlier today:
http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/160366/sumvision-phoenix-mini-hdmi-dvd-div/

For £37 delivered (with SVP's 99p delivery code for this weekend only) you get Divx/Xvid playback, USB2.0 input, MS/MMC/SD card input, HDMI, 1080p upscaling, 5.1 sound output... and mostly good reviews to boot!

No personal experience of it yet but I'm just about to order.
