This looks like a very good deal...
Shame I'm currently in the market for a 120hz monitor :(
Though this is a very nice & capable monitor, at this price... phaor, could buy three for a tri-screen setup! I do doubt the built-in speakers, I mean, they'll work - but I doubt they'll satisfy, most of us have speakers anyway so that's not really an issue. Looks great, too.

10-15 working days delivery for £10 shipping? Interesting approach to providing value.

Monitor looks good though, shame its 1920x1080 but this seems to be the norm for reasonably priced 24".

Have been looking for a 24" screen for my PC and XBOX, and have taken the plunge with this one. Reviews look all good - some concerns over IBOOD and 1920x1080 resolution for PC but then some risks must be taken!
Thanks for bringing this one to our attention

Note: something looks iffy here.

The closest to a review of this product number can be found at:
http://ryanhum.blogspot.com/2010/01/philips-244e1sb-lcd-monitor-review.html

However that doesn't have LED backlighting.

The next model up, the 244e2sb does, but doesn't have audio.

So either this is a mutant version created by Philips, or someone got the specs wrong. The contrast suggests non-LED, of maybe just LED with no smart contrast?

Doesn't say LED backlight anywhere
#7
Is this monitor LED or LCD, the header says LED but the specs say LCD??
#8
The LCD has 45 W power consumption the LED has 30 W
#9
I think the closest this monitor comes to anything LED is the power button indicator! oO

read the tech sheet from the Philips site - no mention of LED backlight whatsoever

If it did have LED backlight, I'm sure the manufacturer would mention it!

Also these pages all say LCD as well.

If people are buying thinking its LED think they may have a surprise when its delivered :)

Mentions LED a few times here on there forum

DIgging depeer they are based in Amsterdam and "Applicable Law Dutch law will apply to any and all legal relations between iBOOD and the buyer, regardless of the country from where the order is placed"

So if you plan on returning could be costly
#16
I have used iBOOD countless times - they always deliver, have had no problems other than really late shipping - if you can handle that, no worries. This ones not for me though . . . to many discrepancies.
#17
Power consumption is shown as 30.9w, surely this confirms it is LED?

it's often not possible for a retailer to actually enforce such clauses which go against your consumer rights, but you'd have to look into this, and you might still need to take court action to get your rights enforced or rely on the overworked Trading Standards people to help.

so I'd avoid this one IIWY

Thats good for you, but its what happens when things go wrong that's the important bit

Looking at parcel to go cheapest is £24 to Netherlands, what happens if it goes faulty do you have to send it back at your expense ?

Little things like this are very important

Nope what they say is correct, if you are buying from USA you wouldn't expect English law to stand for example.

White LEDs are solid state devices which light up to full, consistent brightness faster, saving startup time. LEDs are free from Mercury content which allows for eco-friendly recycling and disposal process. LEDs allow for better dimming control of LCD backlight, resulting in super high contrast ratio. It also gives superior colour reproduction thanks to consistent brightness across the screen.

Full HD 1920 x 1080p LCD display
This display has a resolution that is referred to as Full HD. With state-of-the-art LCD screen technology it has the full high-definition widescreen resolution of 1920 x 1080p. It allows the best possible picture quality from any format of HD input signal. It produces brilliant flicker-free pictures with optimum brightness and superb colours. This vibrant and sharp image will provide you with an enhanced viewing experience.

HDMI Ready
An HDMI-ready device has all the required hardware to accept High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) input, high quality digital video and audio signals all transmitted over a single cable from a PC or any number of AV sources including set-top boxes, DVD players and A/V receivers and video cameras.

SmartContrast ratio 500,000:1
You want the LCD flat display with the highest contrast and most vibrant images. Philips advanced video processing combined with unique extreme dimming and backlight-boosting technology results in vibrant images. SmartContrast will increase the contrast with excellent black level and accurate rendition of dark shades and colours. It gives a bright, lifelike picture with high contrast and vibrant colours.

16:9 widescreen aspect ratio
An aspect ratio is an expression of a video image's width compared to its height. The 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio is standard for universal to high-definition television and European digital television. A native 16:9 aspect ratio means outstanding game and video display without bars at top and bottom of the picture and without the quality loss than comes from scaling, altering an image to fit on a different screen size.

SmartTouch controls
SmartTouch controls are intelligent, touch sensitive icons that replace protruding buttons. Responding to your lightest touch, SmartTouch controls, for example, power up your monitor or brighten and sharpen your display with SmartImage Lite. When activated, SmartTouch icons glow to indicate that your commands have been implemented.

Easy picture format control
Philips easy picture format control on OSD switches from the 4:3 aspect ratio to the widescreen mode and back again to match the display's aspect ratio with your content; it allows you to work with wide documents without scrolling or viewing widescreen media in the widescreen mode and gives you distortion-free, native mode display of 4:3 ratio content.

The link you posted, under 'Tech Spec', states 'TV Tuner: N[o]'. Products marked as monitors dont usually come with DVB, otherwise they'd cross the border from a monitor and be marked as a TV.

I'm worried about my purchase now. I realise the shipping will be a long wait but can anyone tell me the main worries of an LCD over an LED as a computer monitor? Other than the fact that the discrepencies exist between sites...

Why does it ??
