Just popped to my local Netto to find that all Philips energy saving light bulbs are 49p each.

A well-known brand at a good price!
A brief search shows that this is a good deal cheaper than other places.

max 6 per customer.

I saw them at the same price in Currys of all places when I was in there the other day!

Can these be used with Dimmers yet?

Aren't these 4 for a £ at Morrisons?

EDIT:http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/134467/philips-8w-40w-energy-saving-light-/

Even though the above link only mentions the 40w lights I bought the 100w for the same price!

These are 25p each if you buy 4 in Morrisons... I think only the 40w ones though.... (posted by someone else before)

I believe there are two different types. In one the 'dimming' electronics are built in to the bulb. When you power off/on the bulb, it switches to the next dimmer setting - usually up to 5 settings. (there's a PDF at the following link)

I also found this link indicating that there are another new type.
http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Main_Index/Lighting_Menu_Index/Lamps_and_Tubes_Index/Dimmable_CFL/index.html
which states "This Lamp will work with most existing dimmer switches".... they're not cheap though...

as a regular shopper at netto's believe it or not these bulbs are always this price and they are not a promotion - this is the regular price for low energy bulbs at netto's.
