Why are these things so popular? I tried several times to do chips in them and they never turned out good, just ended up whacking it on eBay. A deep fat fryer is so superior for doing good chips, you cannot get close with one of these.

Chips may not have been good, but since I got this I am using it almost daily for all kinds of meat, peppers, etc. And I don't put any oil in it.

Good for bake your own rolls too.

Costco Farnborough had an in-store demo of something very similar last week. It has a rotisserie attachment too. Made it much more useful. Wasn't much more iirc.

They are a lot healthier then using oil, basically it is a fan oven, but with a lot of horsepower, so it cooks food relatively quick

I've been using these for the last couple of years now and can say that It all depends on the brand of chips one fries.
