Found these in Brentford/Isleworth branch of PC World / Currys. They were award winners in 2012 and 2013 with What Hifi (apparently). There was one on the shelf, but I didn't have time to ask if there were any more.

Currently retailing on Amazon for £100+ and there are a few pairs from random sellers on eBay for £80+

I am under no illusions that this might be a one-off and that I got seriously lucky, but wanted to give people a heads-up if they're heading to their local branch to have a look.

Snippet of the 5* What-Hifi review:

"Philips Fidelio M1: Sound quality
It’s a rounded, refined presentation. Vocals are given room to breathe, while high-frequency sounds are natural and don’t harden up when you crank the volume.

Stereo imaging is impressive too, with instruments sitting explicitly in their own space; it might not be the widest soundstage you’ll ever hear, but it’s tightly marshalled.

Downstairs, the bass is weighty, although some might prefer a touch more punch. It never overwhelms proceedings, stays nice and tight even with complex rhythms.

The M1s don’t grab you by the lapels and force you to listen. But in our view that’s no bad thing – they may not be the most exciting listen, but they excel over long listening sessions and won't wear you out."

Good luck, hope someone somewhere can bag a pair of these.

Brilliantly enough, the guy that served me said "you sure you don't wanna get a pair of Beats".

I politely declined.

I do remember this store having had these cans in for a while so there is a possibility that there are some other stores around with some stock. Like I mentioned, I'm not that bothered about the deal getting hot, I just hope someone else is able to bag a pair. It can't be the only pair at that price in the country.

Thanks. There's a certain guilt attached to these WGC (Wild Goose Chase) posts because on one hand you are desperate for a few people to get in on the action but on the other you don't want to be seen as gloating - there's nothing worse than someone giving it the full "LOOK AT WHAT I GOT NANANANANANA". Sorry if it was a wasted trip.

I doubt any of the PC/currys stores near me will have these, have been 'should I, shan't I' for months now but this price is a no brainer if I can find them.
Strange you're not throwing your toys out of the pram with your wild goose chase comments. It's almost as if you try to act normally in threads you like, and try to start fights in those you don't. Proof you're a troll.

I'm looking for headphones to replace my old Sennheiser ones, and these are a steal at this price. Shame my local one doesn't carry any headphones of any value, just Beats and pathetic white apple headphones.

@ perrioli - if I do that in my local (Newtownabbey) I get the excellently helpful "have you tried online" phrase...
It took 3 of them to do a stock check last time I was there and 4 of them to resolve an overcharge at the till

Heat added for the post - are these really worth it or is it a case of "emperors new clothes"/monster cables?

That's my local, I've got lucky a couple of times in there but not through help from the staff. I tend to leave them out of the equation.

@ perrioli - our local PCWorld is the same (as in attitude!)

They are reviewed in one of the hifi mags i saw in WHSMiths yesterday aug issue they did a group test.
They didnt do well, same as my momentums.

The x1s are really good so i was keeping an eye on these but not anymore.
#26
Since when did price have anything to do with sound quality? The power of suggestion is oh so strong...

I think I got the last pair from Rotherham - made a special journey from Nottingham. :)

Did the group test happen to be against £300+ headphones? If so then it's not surprising they didn't do well, seeing as they're ~£100 headphones(or a bit cheaper as they've been out for a few years now having won the what hifi for the previous two years.

Good point, since the momentums were tested which are around 280 full price.
No doubt if someone googles the usual 4 hifi mags they will have the contecnts of this months issue to see.

Price does play a part as you can't compare a cheap pair of headphones against audiophile grade headphones, try using that thing between your ears(if there's anything there that is). Only time you disregard the price is when it comes to beats or similar :p
With prices as ridiculous as these, of course you can disregard them. Expensiver (sic) headphones will sound better if you know they're more expensive. "Audiophile" often means "audiofool".

I doubt it - they're quite evidently different without being told how much each one costs.

I'm not talking about "tat you get with iPhones". I'm talking about wasting £100+ for the sole reason that it's £100+. That's clever marketing aimed at the gullible and the show-offs, invariably men who somehow take it as an assault on their manhoods if anyone dares to suggest that they can't tell the difference between one overpriced pair of headphones and another.
#32
And in English?
#33
Has anybody else found these? Gone way off topic here, what about these headphones??

Doubtful, seeing as the vast majority of these goose chases only has the op having taken advantage of the price but deal still goes hot.

Just bought one pair (last one) in pc world in Worcester

Why don't you try out headphones that range from £10 to £300? Maybe your ears can't tell the difference in sound quality, in which case you may need to upgrade your ears.

There we go - the old "my ears are better than yours" argument - as old as the hills.

You need to try all these out without knowing how much they are being flogged for first. Then, perhaps, the scales might fall from your eyes instead :D

End of the day does anyone on this site pay the msrp for anything? Yes headphones can be expensive, yes they are very subjective regarding audio quality, but premium products that are well reviewed actually are very good. I don't really understand your argument. May be you should write to the manufacturers.
#39
Well, firstly, MRSP/RRP and equivalents are random values which means nothing, and yet people still fall for them on here all the time as if something being discounted from it is somehow good value. DFS anyone?

What do you mean by "premium"? Expensive? What good will writing to the manufacturers do? Why shouldn't they dive in when a fool and his money are so easily parted?
#40
Oh the headphones that nobody can get, the post still go on with the people trying to out do each other with there massive technical experience! Lol, get a life!
