Great find! Should be hotter, its great for a 16GB mp3! :D

Buyer's on Ebay are buying multiples of this item..............must be a good price then ;o)

Wouldn't pay more than £5 for any Philips tat. The brand has the poorest build quality and components of all the big names, not to mention very clunky design. Cold.

great for playing music..got a couple of the smaller ones.....hot deal, good price .
#5
Awesome for 16GB player.
#6
I don't think it plays DIVX/XVID video codecs, otherwise I would apply some heat.

2" screen, too small, cold from me

Why should it be cold just because the screen is, as described, 2"???

Would this suit you better??

It's £40 towards a descent cheap Android phone which will play MP3 just as well. Why carry a mobile phone and an MP3 player?

maybe you've already got a phone?

or want a purpose built dedicated mp3 player?

or something with 16gb capacity?

or something that perhaps won't smash to bits if you drop it whilst jogging or whatever?

using your phone as a player may suit you but it's horses for courses and a lot of people would disagree.

Battery life, sound, dedicated buttons, file format support. A few advantages over android phones. Although in this case Im not sure.

I own a Cowon S9 and a pair of Grado SR80 and no other portable player has matched its sound yet.

I think FocusZing is right, its half the cost of an Android San Francisco - and unless your an Audiophile listening in quiet environments, then the sound is perfectly good for most people. As for dedicated buttons the Android native music app works from well placed touch screen buttons that work without having to operate the screen lock. Or use the brilliant Songbird app instead. Battery life

Was quite tempted til i watched this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WF4a8xQqOoA&feature=related

Not voted either way as its still a good price compared to other sites if your in the market for one of these

I have a San francisco with a 16 GB card in it.

too much music slows it down

It is only just loud enough on full volume.

There is no sound quality.

The battery of the phone itself lasts barely a day, so adding music playing to that only hampers that fact.

My music constantly skips because the phone doesn't have the power to cope with playing music.

If I get a text (which is very often) the music skips again, then I have to take out the phone from my pocket which is attached to wires and mess about.

While I admit I'd rather not have to carry around another device, for the sake of £40 it's probably worth having a stand alone product to play my music.

watched the u-tube vid review on this player.....um not great, but im sure this is like the other philips players..just drag and drop......keeping my eye on this one......as already ordered the sansa clip 16gb from play , again...£40 ish..........

Advertised as a video player, so a 2" screen is a bit pointless. Sorry, do we all have to vote hot on everything?

Yea the problem is you are voting on the operation facilities of the device, not the deal (this is not a review site). Anybody can question the look of a product and vote it cold, the point is you need to asses whether this is a good deal for this item (i.e. can you get a similar product cheaper). So no you don't have to vote hot, but voting it cold for the reason you gave defeats the object of this site. Have your say by all means.

I had the same problem with the San Fran with the stock ROM on it. I'm now on the R12 of Paul's ROM and music playback is fine, and I have to say I think battery life has probably improved overall including with music playback.

But if you like your music then I would agree, a dedicated player is best.

I have an MP3 player and a phone and on a long train journey the other week when my music player battery died I started sending texts and playing games on my phone instead. If I was using my phone as a music player I would have been seriously seriously bored so that's my reasoning for having both.

My go gear Ariaz came the other day so thought I'd make a little review type thing.

Sound Quality is decent with my CX300 headphones. I'm not an audiophile so I can't comment for other people's tastes, but it's more than good enough for me.

Video screen could do with being bigger, and more pixels, I wouldn't bother watch it for more than half an hour at a time to be honest and I'm currently loading some random episodes of vhs quality nineties tv shows to keep me occupied on trains.

I haven't noticed any bugs yet, a video I saw on youtube showed that it wouldn't register videos half the time but faults like that seem to have been fixed.

It's a bit plasticy and feels really light, I like my devices to feel a bit more solid but this is only a minor niggle.

The included software is RUBBISH. To convert video files I am using Any Video Converter from http://www.filehippo.com/download_any_video_converter/ - this is quicker and makes the files smaller than the philips software does. Also you can minimize it and forget it's there.

I haven't synced it with Media Player as I don't use Media Player but drag and drop works fine.

So my impressions after a days use, well worth fourty quid.
