This Freeview HD PVR has come down from an initial price of £299 - Amazon have also now dropped their price to the same £229.99. This PVR has superb picture quality but quite a few software issues - there is an update planned in the next few weeks so hopefully that will sort out the current issues.

This PVR is actually made by Pace - they have just licensed the "Philips" name.

Check the amazon reviews first - the price is falling rapidly because of the probs and the much awaited software fix.

It was £300 just before the World Cup, I was tempted but glad I didn't.

Freeview HD channels such as BBC HD and ITV HD and standard Freeview channels, which it upscales to full 1080p HD resolutions via HDMI connectivity to your TV.

Im confused.com! so am i understanding this right that not all of the freeview channels on these HD freeview devices are broadcast in native HD but are upscaled into HD!
So are they actually in HD or really SD, can anyone explain in simple english, sounds like a con to me. lol

almost all of ITV HD content is SD upscaled to HD
the ITV HD tv listings used to show only the native HD content, sometimes just 1 or 2 programs a night, but now it shows all programs "broadcast" in HD

After reading the reviews on Amazon I've got to say that I wouldn't be tempted at £129.99!

I'm sure I read on TheRegister's review of Freeview HD, that manufacturers aren't allowed to make their boxes actually record HD?
