Entry level shaver at a great price. Heat added.
For a hundred or two more you could buy one
with dozens of extra features but very little
improvement in shaving. Thanks for the post.

Heat Added, good find.

For this price it's a really good deal Philips tend to offer exactly the same spec on all the shavers up to £55 i.e; 8hr charge, with exactly the same cutting heads & a pop up trimmer.

Good Deal, heat and rep.

Got the 6990 model when it was £25. Consider waiting for the 6990 to come down again because (for me at least) the facility to run direct from mains as well as rechargeable, is invaluable.

The 6990 is £35.66 at the mo

I agree, worth the extra now even.... it can be used straight from the mains if need be, whereas the lower models can't, and the 1hour charge is just a lot more convenient for the forgetful.

I bought this based on all the good reviews and I'm glad I did - great razor at a very reasonable price

Had a Philips for years but got dragged away to Braun by a cheap offer, cost an absolute fortune in replacement foils. Got a 6695 last year for £25 and never looked back. Good price for this model.

I have no mains in my bathroom, so I have to rely on charging my one via a little dock in a normal mains, does the 6990 allow me to do the same? If so I'll grab one, thanks in advance guys!

Same here, definitely worth it. Trimmer on it is pretty naff though (assume it's the same on all 6900 series).

this is cheaper than buying the replacement heads, i think last time i went to buy them they were about £12 each, so 36 quid !

Another taking for the 6990. At least with this model when the battery fails in a few years you will still be able to shave direct from the mains.

bloody hell, this is wierd,i have just dropped (& wrecked my Braun 5790) i was on amazon looking at the 6990,& just thought i'd look on here on the off chance there is an offer on,H&R for the 6970,but i'm going for the 6990,cheers all who commented

Good deal, been a Braun user up 'til now, but fancied trying one of these Philips rotary shavers for a while, so worth at punt at £23.

I have never had a battery fail and in any case the heads will need replacing first, which means replacement as nobody buys new heads when a new shaver is cheaper.

I have the 6990 - so not a direct comparison (which I got for £18)

But I use this for during the week for work purposes - just to keep me clean shaven - and I can tell you it does the job good well! It is no wet shave for closeness - but it all depends what you want!

As the weekend I have a wet shave with the good old mach 3 but use this Monday - Friday

Hot from me - and even if it plays up in 18 months or 2 years - at this price, buck it out and get a new one :D
