Heads are self-sharpening. I have never replaced mine, I just get a new shaver every 4-5 years. The people who complain about the blades do not clean their shaver properly. It is not enough to just shake out the dust. You need to take the head apart at least once every month (or more often if you want) and clean the blades properly. It's a small job but makes a huge difference. DO NOT mix the blade/cover pair when you do that! It is important to keep the pairs together because the blades have adjusted to the covers. (If you have accidentally mixed up the pairs, expect a two weeks "run-in" period before they shave to their full potential)

I've used Braun shavers before I changed to Philips a few years ago. Philips are better suited to my beard.

I've had one of these for about a year. Gives a close shave, blades will need replacing soon. The clipper part is poor. For the price however it is a great shaver.

You can still order from Amazon at £34 if you are prepared to wait a few weeks

Voted hot as it's a good price.

Never liked my electric philips shaver though, or any other electric shaver I've tried for that matter. Wet shave all the way!
#14
I'm tempted by this (heat added btw) - How close is the shave? I've only ever wet shaved but my stubby is very tough so I kill manual razors very quickly (had a Gillette fusion, the blades last about 2 weeks before becoming blunt :/ )
#15
Never used one of these as have heard all sorts of bad things about them - I usually wet shave every 2 days or so. Would people recommend switching to this kind of shaving, or is wet shaving the way to go?

I didn't realise. Thanks for the tip..............!

BIC 10p per blade...no electricity required...enough said.

Really good shaver. Used a Braun freeglider for a few years but the heads wore out too quickly and didn't shave close enough. With this Shaver i can have a nice shave every morning without an annoying rash.

it is still available at £27.50,just click where is says 11 new from £27.50,the first option should be amazon,it can be ordered and card charged when it is in stock and sent to you!

I've had a Phillips razor similar to this one for years, never seems to get blunt, charge lasts for weeks even when shaving every day. Doesn't work if your beard gets a bit long, you do need to shave every day.
#31
I don't shave but I may aswell start now I have ordered this....
#32
Should remove expired, as you can still get the deal when it's in stock if you order now.

Ordered one myself, cheers OP ;)
#33
Indeed. Here's a link which shows all the various models - the first two at Amazon prices http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/feature.html/ref=amb_link_84832913_1?ie=UTF8&docId=1000339953&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=left-1&pf_rd_r=1EXM1YTFM1BJS45VZ85Z&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=473420453&pf_rd_i=76023031

I've ordered the second one as it's arguably an even better bargain [save 61% instead of 50%] :)

Cheers OP

BTW I already have a 6990 which I use all the time and think it's great - bought about a year ago.

There is an estimated date for these to come back now - August 5.

I did as well. Thought I'd have to wait 2-4 weeks but was happy to. I then got an email yesterday saying I would receive it sooner and it was posted last night. A £90 RRP shaver, now on sale at Amazon for £75 for just £34! Chuffed!
