This is over £100 in a good few places and one of this weeks best RS deals as it is a low cost home cinema option with HDMI, Upscaling etc

Priced at £79.95 but just mention the vip price and you will get it for £59.95

If you join the VIP free you also get a £10 vouche rto use instore at instore prices (no good for this deal but may be for other stuff you may want)

The Philips HTS3510 produces powerful, cinematic sound from a stylish and compact package system.

Like nearly all one-box home cinema systems, the Philips HTS3510 comes with a separate subwoofer for added impact. Unlike others, however, the satellite speakers have also been designed to produce a powerful sound. Thanks to the fitment of 'basspipes' the HtS3510's speakers can handle a wide range of sounds without sounding tinny and relying too much on the subwoofer. Powering these impressive speakers is a well-matched, 300 watt, digital amplifier. As well as keeping the packaging compact, the digital amplifier also keeps tight control on the sound and helps give the Philips its wrap-around sound staging.

Built into the main unit is a DVD player with upscaling to 1080p. Combined with an HDMI output, this gives you the best picture quality possible from your DVDs. As a further bonus, the player will also play CDs, VCDs and DivX encoded discs. Making the Philips HTS-3510 even more flexible is a USB socket. Connect up a USB flash drive or media device and you can view photos and videos on your TV.

Coming complete with an AUX input and built-in tuner you can use the Philips HTS3510 as your main music system. There are also a full range of equaliser settings from Classic to Rock that allow you to tailor the sound to exactly how you want it.

For a fantastic value home cinema on-box system with way better sound than most, the Philips HTS3510 deserves your attention.

This seems like a really good deal: why the cold votes?

Already all setup for 5.1 and HDMI upscaling etc. here, but for those that aren't this seems like a real bargain! Heat added.

Good price for a sub basement 5.1 system. As long you don't expect too much from it and expect to be able to connect all your other goodies to it, it should suffice.
#4
Good for the kids bedroom or for the elderly.

Heat added.

When I was a small child I didn't have a TV in my room, let alone all this malarky. Bloody spoilt kids.

Would I be able to plug my sky+ box into this to get surround sound from SKY? If so I am gonna get one at that price.
#10
No mention of anyway to input sound into it
#11
"Coming complete with an AUX input"
#12
And how will you get 5.1 with an Aux? Most likely a 3.5mm jack for an MP3 player or PC
#13
Guess this is no good for use with Sky then. Oh well no buy for me.
#14
I have this in my home, and its great, the sound quality is really good, and I paid about £150 for mine, and only had mine 5 months or so. 8)

I used to run my sky box sound thro a LG dvd player with 5.1 think i used the RCA audio cables.

av forums sky+ outputs:
All Sky+ boxes have the following usable rear connectors

TV scart RGB or Composite
VCR scart Composite
S-video output
Digital Audio Out - Toslink
Twin RCA/Phono audio out
RF in
RF1 and RF2 out (RF2 usable with magic eye and coax cable to control box from another room)
Telephone connector
Mains connector - figure of 8 type cable

Best bit was you can listen to video music channels and not have to have tv on only the sky box and dvd player !

I am afraid I am not able to upload the pic as photobucket has maintenance issues and th eonly way I know how to do it......d'oh.

If nobody else adds it, call your local store in the morning they will definately confirm it at £59.95....

I will try and upload again later.

Heat added, great price for those on a budget

You can connect 1 additional input to this unit using 2x RCA jacks on it - no digital inputs as far as I can tell so the best it will do from a sky box is upmixed stereo (will make stereo audio come out all the speakers).

See page 6 of the manual:

If you have various devices which would benefit from surround sound, eg Sky, Xbox, DVD, BR player etc - DON'T buy this. Put the £60 in the bank and keep saving and get a separate amp / speaker package. This way, all your devices can connect and you get far better sound quality. If you only want 5.1 surround sound from the DVD player, then this will be an improvement over the standard tv speakers

Hot for the price, but doesn't meet my requirements unfortunately :(
