Seems expensive for what it is or am I missing something? You can buy LED strips/tape kits from £5 for 5m.

Edit: sorry I see it integrates with your mobile, motion sensors etc but the light itself seems very expensive and under powered compared to the cheap sets.

Voted hot! Would have bought this myself had I not got one from Argos the other day for £53.99 (with vouchers).

That's what I thought. Propriety connects maybe? Learn to solder.

The hub bridge and software i can understand being £50.

They are a little overpriced, however the big selling point in my opinion is that they link to the Philips Hue Hub and other Philips Hue Smart lighting and can be controlled via Smartphone at home or away.

We must have been typing at same time!
Based on my experience of the product the last few days, they do seem to be of a much higher quality than other LED strip kits I have tried in the past, and are also in my opinion a lot brighter than said light strips.

Yes its a little overpriced for an RGB led strip, but if you're just looking for an RGB strip, Philips Hue is not for you. If you're interested in home automation, integrating with smartthings, IFTTT and so on, Philips Hue is a fantastic product.
Build quality is also very good, it is nothing like the cheap strips you find. Brightness, also good. Heated at this price, got two!
