This is not a DAB radio!
This is a device which allows you to stream your music "downstairs" from you PC or most importantly listen to Internet radios from all over the world.
It is very good if you are foreigner and would like to listen your own national radio while being in kitchen not hanging in front of your PC.

Please do not vote cold if you do not need it some people are and this is the cheapest deal.

P.S. Do vote cold only if you can provide cheaper deal

If you haven't got a smartphone to do these tricks with (or have a family), these things are dead useful. Reviews aren't bad either!

Love it! I grabbed myself one of those, amazing what it can do, stream from any PC/MAC/NAS, and internet radio plays like local, brilliant, they are selling at around a hundred quid now at amazon, so 60 is a bargain! Thanks

True! though I have a phone which does it, this is nicer as it is stationary in the kitchen as a radio, and can do so much more than a little phone :).

The internet radio on these things is appalling. It uses RadioTime, but half of the stream URL's don't work. Not worth the money IMHO.

a friend just ordered one from the suggested shop, they dispatched it for next day delivery for 2.99! good stuff...

I have RadioTime on my Tattoo and it works like a charm. On the other hand it is not RadioTime's fault if some radio station in Nigeria are working on "dial-up" kind of connections. So RadioTime is trying to keep them up to date.

And what do you mean by "these things"? :whistling:

I'm right in thinking this just does the streaming/radio part. You still need to plug it into a set of speakers?

You can also go through amazon & buy it from telephones online, same price +£2.95 shipping.
#8
Price should include P+P not £59.99 plus P+P:p

I got one of these when they were on offer for £30 at curry's at the end of last year. Brilliant piece of kit and the internet radio works perfectly running over my wireless network. there's about a 1-2 second lag when streaming music from my Buffalo Linkstation Live NAS box, which is perfectly acceptable. If you have an area in the house where you cant receive a radio signal then i'd thoroughly recommend it.

I bought one last time round - impressed. You can search and arrange your favourite stations online and it automatically updates to the unit. Yes - you do need to plug this into a set of speakers via an amplifier for it to work.
#11
Isn't this just an adaptor? i.e you can't hear anything from it there is no speaker function, unless you hook it up to speakers or your hifi, so in affect it's just the same as the Revo Mondo adaptor.
#12
o2 joggler might do the job(and more) as well, although joggler's speaker might be much worse than this one
#13
So if your PC is upstairs and this doohicky is downstairs in your kitchen hooked up to some speakers via an amp, can you choose which songs to play from the NP1100's screen, or do you have to run upstairs to the PC and queue up loads of MP3s?

Cheers!
#14
Plus, if it is the former, is there a random play feature does anyone know?

Cheers again!

Surely an O2 Joggler can do exactly the same thing?

Yes and more, but you will struggle to purchase an O2 Joggler now.

I an a few mates have an O2 Joggler, and although I love it, the Internet radio is appaling. Wherever it's used (Many different ISPs) the radiostations keep dropping out.

Have tried connecting at many different speeds from 2 - 50 meg with same result.

Apart from that it's good.

If you want to listen to internet radio, stick to this deal.

"WMA bit rates: up to 192 kbps, CBR/VBR"

That's a bit pants isn't it? I rip mine at 320. 256 is usually alright. 192 you start to notice, IMHO.

With the joggler the internet radio uses Pure so you are quite limited to the stations you can receive (when compared to the number of worldwide stations on the internet). I have a joggler and love it, but it is restricted radio wise.

Just use mine for internet radio, so went into the attic and dug the manual out to try and answer your query The upshot is as long as your PC is running Windows Media Player 11 and set to share (also must be part of a network and switched on!) then you can search your PC and play music files. WM11 is on the installation disk as well as instructions to set the PC to share.

Random search is not documented either in the quick start manual or the fuller CD version although there is a shuffle button on the remote. I'm connected to a network server, so I've put some tracks on that and pressed the shuffle button - hey presto, it mixed them up. Haven't had time to play with folders/albums but I can't see a problem.

Hope it helps...

Can't comment on the joggler bit this bit of kit has access to tens of hundreds (thousands?) of radio stations worldwide - certainly too many to play through...

Am hooked to the American 977 classic rock chanel"" - it scrolls the artist, song and date, a real blast from the past but making me feel old....

It sure does. Thanks very much for taking the time to do that!

If you have an ipod touch you can do what this can do with 2 apps: plugplayer and tunein radio. For music around my home I use my ps3 connected to a home theatre system with ps3 media server to stream music from my pc.

Though what I have described is damn pricey compared to this I just want to make people aware of the alternatives if they already have the kit then it would work out as cheaper.... That being said if I hadn't just spent £50 on a rice cooker I would be interested in this for my kitchen voted hot.

The shop that is selling these also sells them on ebay for £59.99, with free postage. Plus a bit more off if you go through quidco! Just do a search on ebay for np1100. Ordered one today!
