I bought my partner one of these last week at Argos for similar price it's absolutely great. We also found that Lidl sell their own cheaper pods it's £1.39 for 18 pods and they come in 2 strengths and are great

Great spot - got one reserved (via TopCashBack) for the folks for Xmas. Got myself one from Argos at £29.99 a couple of weeks ago (having used a Nescafe machine at an hotel the weekend before and realised what we'd been missing out on) and find it terrific but Argos were all out of stock by then. Using the £1.49 for 18 pods at Lidl ie 8p/cup, 16p/mug (3 Brazilian/Colombian/Kenyan varieties from memory) - used to be a filter coffee machine addict, but no longer.

BTW: they come with a 2 year Philips warranty.

PS: Even better found they will deliver it for free - which beats going out in the snow & Xmas traffic/crowds today and MAYBE finding they hadn't really got one anyway (though that's more a PCWorld customer trick I think than Comet)

if you want to use this with ground coffee if you buy an attachment which I'm not allowed to mention by name cos it'll get marked as spam . . . . . . . . . its the substance this machine makes followed by the name of an aquatic bird with webbed feet that goes quack !

Coffeeduck? Spam? Why?

I've had one for the last 5 years. Great if you want your cuppa - not so great if you rely on it to make coffee for a party. Then again, I am Dutch and we Dutch drink shitloads of coffee.

As this IS a Dutch machine from a Dutch company (Philips) it is pretty good.

I didn't realise they were still selling these. I remember when I had a fill-in job at Comet about five years ago we were told they were being discontinued, so we basically reduced them to £5 or free with any purchase over £5.

Forgot to say, I got one of these at the carboot for £2, and regularly see them over there for similar prices.

Also got a Tassimo for £5, and have seen a Dolce Gusto for £9 :)

Bit limited on choice of coffee, but cheap pods and OK coffee.

Ended up giving it away on Freecycle I think!

Do the glass cups come with it ?

Hot!
Now this or the Quadrante for £49?

I guess I'll go for the Quadrante because of Reviews and pretty much everybody I know owning a "standard" Senseo...

Badass. Ordered for delivery some time in January as that's the only date I'd be able to get it. Free delivery too which is even better. Big thanks to the coffeequack too, that'll make this a much more affordable toy :)

Just saw this recall notice on the philips website - make sure you check the year of manufacture and de-calcify every 3 months..

Great post.

Probably why mine was £2 at the carboot then! :)

Great coffee machine i use mine everyday. I strongly advise getting the reusable eco pads over the coffee duck as you get much better results http://www.attrill.com/d-e/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=13&products_id=29

The best range of coffee is online here's a few http://www.thecoffeepod.co.uk/index.htmlhttp://www.coffeepodshop.co.uk/shop/

Comet were as good as their word and delivered last Thursday (albeit to a neighbour who only produced it next lunchtime as I was unexpectedly away). Folks delighted with it as a Xmas present. Did notice the 75p off coffeecoupon in their's expired in Sep 2010! Haven't checked mine yet.
