I'm curious about this too. I really want surround sound but apparently you have to buy an amplifier/av receiver to decode to sound - and then separate 5.1 or whatever speakers to plug into the amp. My borther says the minimum cost for a standard surround sound system would be around £300.

I have heard that you can connect some pc speakers directly to the television but how well does this actually work? Do you need any speacial sockets for this connection?

Also are the wires with a PC speaker large enough to be positioned around the room?

It would appear that Zavvi are a bit misleading, these are really for a PC rather than a TV.

Here is a review.

If the remote control is really hardwired it would automaticaly be a no for me.

So its just a fairly standard 5.1 set of speakers?

"..I have heard that you can connect some pc speakers directly to the television but how well does this actually work?.."

I just plug my logitech speakers into the headphones socket on my 32" DGM LCD TV and it works fine. Great sound.

For a PC, yes. Wouldn't buy this for a TV.
Appears to have only one one input "Stereo Audio (3.5 mm jack) 1 x "

These are primarily designed for use with a PC with a 5.1 decoder card.
They can be used with a dvd player/recorder which has an onboard decoder, and analog output sockets for the speakers - such machines are few and far between now. Most machines will have a co-ax or digital output which has to go into a separate decoder/amplifier, and that is relatively expensive as mentioned in previous posts.
I don't see any point in connecting to a TV anyway - as far as I know there are no broadcasts made in 5.1 surround sound.

^^ BBC HD is Dolby Digital 5.1
#11
If it only has a single stereo jack input, it cannot possibly be a true 5.1 system. It will be a stereo system with 2 channels of audio split into 5 speakers.

if you text "zavvi" to 82100 you get a free £1 voucher code to spend online and a draw entry.
#13
You can plug these into your tv (assuming it has a 3.5mm headphone jack input), however you will only get 2.1 stereo sound. Kind of a waste of 3 extra speakers.
#14
90W all together and you would plug it into your TV? my PC 2.1 sub-woofer system is 185W alone, my Living Room Needs a 9month Pregnant System baby... Minimum 500W, I need to feel my knee shake!

I thought this only had a line in as well but according to this youtube video it appears to have front, center and rear inputs.

Fast forward to 2.41 minutes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsDrrZ1xyKM

Expired , now gone back upto £99

Edit : now down to £49.99

Back down to 44 again. This may be a daft question but are the two rear speakers wireless? As I can see it has this satelite hub thing?

i am thinking to buy these for my pc room can anyone comment on sound -anygood?
