Well spotted, was gonna order one but would have been useless for what I needed it for

If this matters to you remember that the layout of this protector is not very good if you have many mains adaptors connected as they often "overlap" the socket opposite.

http://img442.imageshack.us/img442/2586/1199822980spa70uc496283.jpg

I have got the above type with 12 sockets on it (including surge protection), without the line sockets though, and connecting many adaptors to it is not a problem as the sockets are "offset" from each other.

Otherwise this seems to be a good price for what it is.

"£300,000 Connected Equipment Warranty"

I'd love to see its terms...

i wish i could find a decent surge protector but with a switch for each plug too. i rarely find them and they are usually so expensive!

good deal, but not for me for the above reasons.

Where can i get this, been looking for something like this, I have a 10 socket one in another room but this looks even better!!!

I got all three of mine (in white) from Screwfix for £15 each - in a sale. However they seem to no longer have those now.
They do have one similar at Amazon for £15ish including delivery but that is only a ten socket one...

http://www.amazon.co.uk/surge-Tower-Extension-Lead-Socket/dp/B000OV0CEY/ref=pd_sxp_f_pt

but I have not seen the 12 one for a while, apart from the expensive one here...

http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav.jsp?action=detail&fh_secondid=10549078&ecamp=trf-005&CAWELAID=363668324

However the 12 socket has the extra two on the square base that you can see in the photo (upright ones) and those two are a little difficult to use if the wire is thick and non flexible as those two sockets are quite close to the base.

But you do get a lot of them on ebay...

What's the definition of a "decent" surge protector?
#21
a couple of these blew all my equipment up - I'm still spending the £600,000;-)

I bought one of these at £9.99 from Ebuyer when needing a multi power point and looking at Belkin at around the £25-30 mark. A simple product but does the job well (as it should).

I needed only 6 so I knew I could sacrifice 2 for extended plugs such as those for hand held phones or other items, which do protrude but I think people know that anyway.

Also, I think you'll find the warranty is actually £200,000 though I agree, it is advertised as £300,000. Hardly matters though. What does matter is that if it all went pear shaped, then Philips have a reputation to protect and you could cause much more damage to their reputation than the £1000 or so it would cost to replace your items.

It is a nice sturdy unit though I think if you were to use the telephone protector, a better design could be used.

It was good value at £9.99 and incredible value at £6.99. I may well buy another one.

Really? Have you read the terms of the agreement? What do you think the chances are that you will get £1000 out of Philips if your equipment fails while connected via one of these? How many hoops will you have to jump through, e.g. how do you prove that it was a "surge" which broke your equipment - a "surge" that was within the parameters of this thing to protect against. And believe me, there will be parameters: they are not going to protect you against lightning strike, for instance. But what constitutes a lightning strike? etc, etc, etc...

Sorry to be harsh, but I do think you are living in cloud-cuckoo land if you believe that this "equipment guarantee" is anything more than a gimmick.

But if you think it is good as an extension lead and nothing else, then it's a hot deal.

nice find! I'll be honest though and will pass on it. I'll wait until I spot a surge protected set of 8 (or 10 or 12) with switches... yes i know i may be waiting a while!

i appreciate the link though thanks!
