The perfect TV remote with all main TV control functions
The TV remote is particularly easy to use with large buttons for channel selection and volume. It is simply the best replacement for your broken or lost TV remote control.

Ready for use with Philips equipment
If you have Philips equipment, you can use your universal remote control without programming it because all keys are pre-set for Philips.

Big buttons increase operability and readability
The buttons are larger on the remote to help read the labels better. Additionally, pressing the button becomes more convenient, as the size has increased by 2 mm compared to the standard button size.

Protective rim increases comfort and gives a firm grip
The extra protection provided by the special rubber rim decreases the chance of dropping or breaking the remote. In addition, it improves the grip of the remote in your hand, thereby improving comfort.

I've checked and this seems to be in stock in some stores and is also available for home delivery at an extra charge.

I got one months ago from TJ Hughes for £2.99 for my dad. It does the job and has nice big buttons, good for old people . He had picked up a crappy Ross one that was terrible before I got him this, the build quality and ease of set-up and use of the Philips is far superior - well worth £4.97 as a simple replacement remote.

also in PCWorld for same price

Does this remote have any header pins in the baterry compartment?

Would appreciate it if anyone knows. These headers are sometimes called JP1 and are on most One For All units.

Couldn't find one on the TJ Hughes site, if this saves anyone else the bother btw.

It's no Harmony, but you can't argue with the price. Have reserved one at Teesside Park.

Surely this is only for the TV ..

It does not really have the buttons for DVD use ( though you could probably get away with most Freeview / Satellite functions).

It was a few months ago and instore only so there might not be any around now, but our TJ's tend to have stock hanging around for ages so you may get lucky.

I think you are right, I've just checked with the old man and this isnt the one I got from TJ Hughes. The one I got was the SRU3030 that controlled up to 3 devices, this one is just for the TV so maybe not so hot - still miles better than the crappy ones from the pound shop though ;-)

Specification here for the SRU4010 if anyones interested

poundland remotes do same job for a quid so cold im afraid

Currys still have the SRU8008 and the SRU8015 for £29.97. I know they are £25 more but in terms of what you get its money well spent (IMO).

Looks like a good idea for the kids. my 6 year old can't understand my One-For-All so insists on using separate remotes for the TV, PVR and DVD (he hasn't discovered the CD player or surround sound stuff yet) so he ends up dragging me out of bed on Saturday morning 'cos he's watching CITV but can only hear Indiana Jones on DVD!

Just what we need! Cheers!!

Damn, you're right - TV only, and the narrative on Currys' site (and copy/pasted into the OP) is wrong.

No, it's TV only - not other devices, as per above posts. :x
