'aaarggh' - I just bought one of these off eBay yesterday for £27.49 and thought I'd got a bargain. Am a bit vexed now, (especially after being told by a friend that it'd be a bargain at £35).

Nevertheless, good spot OP - heated and repped!

i bought 2 of these from my currys for 4.97 each

#12
I picked up the 8015 for £29.97.

What a remote.

This remote doesn't seem to have very good reviews overall but I am willing to possibly give it a try.

First, please can someone tell me how you programme the remote?
Will it work with a 10 year old stereo?
If so, do you need an original remote to programme it as I my stereo remote is broken

Thanks

Problem with the reviews is the product has a few names (for the same product) mainly called the "Phillips Presigo SRU9600", cant find any really bad reviews for it? and for £19.99:thumbsup:

Amazon reviews are pretty ok (compared to some)

Sadly, it was an auction. I was close to buying it now for £35 from a different seller, but was encouraged to go for the auction option by the friend I mentioned earlier.

Never mind, it's not like I paid full retail price for it, I suppose.

True, always the same though, i bought an 8gb 2nd gen ipod touch back in June for £158 and 2 days later saw a deal for £145:roll: and then you tell someone and they say "I could have got you one for £140", you could always buy a couple and sell them on ebay and claw back the difference:)

Thank you, does anyone know the answers to the questions I posted above? The only remote I could find in stock is about 10 miles from me

,

Catch a bus, cost about £3,00 return and bingo (or if it costs more just pay for delivery, you are saving at least £20 to the closest other price), cant see why it wouldnt work, all use IR and IR hasnt changed that much in 10 years, what is the make and model of you stereo
#21

I have the kids to drag along so would definitely be car and bus is £2 here in London (and probs 2 buses each way AND I hate buses) :giggle:
Just don't usually bother going to the shops on Saturday as they are just too busy.
Also, I have never been bothered to get one of these, am just wondering if it would be silly to turn it down at this price :-D
The stereo is an Aiwa XR-MM8. I am not technically minded at all, so if I can't use the remote for the stereo too then I may just leave it as I only have my TV and Sky+ box (and my DVD player that doesn't get used) as I know this won't work on my PS3 (oh, if only!)

Worth checking instore as the system will not show stores with 3 or less. Hope that helps.

I know these universal remotes are fully programmable and can "learn" the functions of an existing remote but is it just me or is there always something that it just won't learn?

For example I have the Chameleon (forget the make but its a well known one) and it can learn another remotes signals by choosing a button to program and pointing them at each other. Sky + worked, tv worked (apart from volume down but I have it down anyway as use separate speakers) but I can't get it to learn anything from my DVD player or my audio set up. Am I doing something wrong or are these a bit it and miss?

The store I reserved at said there was one left

Would anyone want a reservation number for the Chadwell Heath store - I might not collect mine
#27
Seems like a hot deal. Just reserved mine for collection.

But can anyone advise me of the pro's and con's of this remote compared to Logictech's Harmony One? I realise theres a bit a of a price difference, and I'm sure there's sort of spec difference, but would it or would it not be worth spending so much extra for the Harmony One over this £20 remote?

Great price, I get fed up of losing all of my remotes and not being able to see them in the dark! Does anyone know if this will work with air conditioning or xbox 360?
#30

#31
I wonder if the SRU8015 and the SRU8008 have been reduced further as last time I looked they were all at £29.97.
#32
Just reserved one to collect later, looks very good for the price!

Was just thinking, my 'stunning deal' (ahem!!) for the 8008 and the 8015 remotes only reached about 5% but this remote, albeit £10 cheaper is 300% plus!!! This and the fact the 8015 has a more expensive retail price!! Lifes so hard..........!!!!!:whistling:
Good deal and voted hot!!

OK, picked mine up and first impressions are good but I've one major problem. How do you program it to work properly with Sky+ ?

I've tried various Sky options from SAT, STB and PVR and they all do the basic stuff but I can't find an option that has the up / down / left and right buttons. i.e. The arrow buttons that are normally around the Select button on the standard sky remote.

Anyone managed to setup this up?

Do you mean the up, down, left, and right buttons located inside the jog wheel?

Yes, but I'm being stupid :oops::oops::oops:

Just found them. Didn't even notice the buttons recessed around the OK button.

lol. Don't worry, it took me a few minutes to find them too

Had one of these a while back, it was ok, easy to use - I think the main draw back was that you couldnt connect to the web and update remote codes etc - but it was quite comprehensive and worked with 90% of my kit.

Word of caution, the glass on the front does not like being dropped - mine lasted a couple of months before one of my children dropped and smashed it on the fireplace ..... :-(

I have given up on fancy remote controls until they leave home...

Just picked one up today from Keighley. They had 3 in stock. Works a treat, real easy to set up and now only one remote to lose instead of six. Well done OP. Heat and rep added. Top find.
