They've brought out the new model WACS7500 so this is end of line. Still some around instore only as it's been taken off the web now due to the new model

You best bet is to check and reserve over the phone 0500 304 304 - they'll hold the stock then

Product code is 900221 and currys sales can check and reserve

The product code will not come up on their normal system because it is discontinued stock. The girl I spoke to had to go on to a different system but then came up with loads. Also remember to get them to check currys digital as well

snip from pc advisor to give you an idea of what it does:-

"The main piece of the Philips Streamium WACS7000 kit is the MusicCentre. This has an 80GB hard drive, on to which you can rip your CD collection (or fill with MP3s from your existing PC or wired/wireless network). CD ripping can be painfully slow, however.

You can then play the files on the Philips Streamium WACS7000's MusicCenter, or zap them across to the separate MusicStation - one of these is provided, although you can buy additional ones. You can't, however, stream media to other slave devices. "

Are these freely available or is it only certain stores that have them at this price?

I checked in my area and there were 4 sealed in high Wycombe, one in Hemel, one in staples corner, one it St albans, so while the stores with one in are probably display models this is not always the case as the hemel store had a sealed box - taken by staff member by the time I got there!

Just rang the 0500 number and got redirected to sales where a chap who was talking through his teeth (and ****) said that Curry's have not ever stocked this model.

That's the DSG experience for you.

I called and got the same response, she told me the system says it an invalid product code.

Just before anyone rushes out and buys one of these as i nearly did a year ago, listen to one first and also read up any reviews you can find online. I would stay well clear of these, very attractive price let down badly by all sorts of problems with doanloading/treaming of songs. Dont just take my word for it go see for yourself.

If it helps any i was in the new cross gate store ( se14 ) south east london and they had them in stock there ! must say i was tempted
#14
i had a wacs 7000 - and it was rubbish

philips stuff generally sound good or have good ideas but in reality they are poor products.
mine broke within a year (many do develop faults), so after it was repaired, it got ebayed

i now have a ipod and a hifi with an ipod dock which work much better
#15
I'm not much on tonight but I have the model before this - the only diference between this and the model I have is that this has a bigger HDD mine has 40gb, it has a usb slot and has a brighter backlight on the screen or maybe a colour screen I can't remember.

Anyway at this price it's brill if you get the station too, one of the best deals I've seen for a while on here.

Saying that I've got to agree that if you like the look of the ipod docks and already have an ipod ADENCOOL has a point that it doesn't do anything an ipod can't do for you really in a decent dock.

I paid about £300 for my center station and a room station because I was one version behind and have used it for about 2 years with no problems at all.

edit - oh & it was a nightmare to setup but I must admit that the philips helpline was the best I've ever dealt with they were brill and talked me though the entire thing to get it streaming wirelessly from my PC. They even called me back to save my phone bill :)

cant find them on website

I have the wacs7000 and paid full price for it. After spending ages getting it to stream to the other stations, I still have problems with the router not picking them up. A good piece of kit, looks great, but don't expect any firmware updates soon.

If their 0500 number isn't getting through then it might be they only exist on branch systems. I'd try calling your local branch directly using saynoto0870.com first.

you can phone using the 0500 number and ask for sales where they can search branch systems for stock if you give them a postcode or town name

If you want to stream, simply get a second hand Netgear MP101 off ebay for £15 and share your music library from WMP (or equiv) on your PC.

If you have / want your music on a portable device or hard drive, get an mp3 player docking station as others in this thread have described.

How this gets so many hot votes is beyond be because I have consistently had bad experiences with the quality / UI software / player codec support & build quality from Philips products. Very poor in my own personal experience.

Saying that, I can't comment on this particular piece of kit from a quality POV because I run a media server from my PC for my streaming needs.

i have had a 7000 for over 18 months now with no problems, picke mine up for what was a bargain £420.00 bar, if you can get it the price stated it is a steal. Voted hot

just get an FM transmitter for £15 attach it to your PC and put a radio where you want to hear it sorted and you save £150
#27
Very gimmicky. Although this unit looks sleek etc it really is lacking in my opinion. I reckon it will be worth less than £170 second hand in a years time or maybe even less.

I'm sure hi-fi's will begin to include wireless compatability as standard. Why do you need to have the HDD in the device? Just buy a 250gb NAS External and as already said get something like the Netgear - MP101.

IMO the problem with this is everything is sort of bunched together. Buy everything seperately, buy some nice speakers from richer sounds, some seperates etc and add integrated wireless streaming into this through other devices.

Note how it doesn't support OGG and a load of other formats.

No-one is questioning why currys are trying to shift these beyond them bringing out a new model. They probably know something we don't.
#29
Does this do internet radio, doesn't look like it?
#30
nah & it doesn't even have a DAB radio which is a same - fm only tuner I'm afraid.
#31
Just had a play with one in my local.

Way too big for what it is and given the size of the screen. Also worth noting a fair few stores only have display models which have been abused. My locals looked it.

It made a rattling noise whilst playing music before I got to 50% volume too! :?

Completely agree. I couldn't take mine back fast enough. Too many bugs! :(

I just called the 0500 number to be told it doesnt exist and then called my local Currys in Worthing, and the closest they could find was Southampton or Oxford nothing in between.

Never mind maybe someone will get a bargain and it is at this price

thanks to the few for their positive coments. I posted a system down from £700 to £170 and bought one brand new box sealed. These are out there all it takes is a little effort to pick up the phone and follow my simple instructions in the op, I've done ALL the hard work for you guys e.g. product code, freephone number, only on branch systems, even where stock is local to me not to mention links to the first four or five reviews I found. The amount of people who have said they cannot see it online is simply shocking. Give a guy a break who posts IMO a good deal and goes out of his way to provide all the info......

I agree, if people have opions then thats fine, positive or negative then post them. But you cannot slate Ramtec for posting this deal, it could be exactly what someone is looking for and after all, at this kind of price redction it is definitely a deal.....

Agreed but I don't think any negative comments were aimed at the OP. People are posting reviews from experience and comments as they are entitled to an opinion and want to be helpful to potential purchasers.

I voted it hot as it is one hell of a reduction but £170 is a lot of money to take a chance on especially when staff say the item can't be returned as it's a clearance item.

My advice, as posted by others, is try before you buy. Take a cd with you and make up your own mind.

I don't mind the neg about the product at all and do not think it directed at me but if people feel the need to post then please read the OP. Also people say about the reviews but all the ones I've read have been very postive so again if you post regarding reviews back it up by providing a link to said poor review remembering they are reviewing at £700 not £170.

Just puts me off posting TBH
#39
still a rip off sorry its just far too over priced even at reduced price.

Still it is the best price your gonna get one for so it's good you did still post.
#40
Just contacted the number as advised. They said they have had a lot of calls and all stock has gone, even the display models. They also confirmed it was selling for the price posted. Good post but I wasn't quick enough. Serves me right for having a lie in.
