I got one of these from Argos about 6 months ago for £124.99 and it is currently £129.99 at Argos now.

It is a very nice tv for the money too It knocks spost of any lcd that is up to 3 times the price and is fine if you have space for a standard crt tv.

My friend bought this for twice that price a few years ago. Great TV for the money, especially with a £19.99 Fusion Freeview box from Argos ;-)

Asda have had 24" Bush/Alba things for £99, but by that same measure a £79-£99 28" Fullscreen/4:3 Tvs which are about but rare now is 24" in widescreen 16:9 mode.

But admitedly that Philips will have a far nicer tube in it compared to the budget makes so a clearer nicer picture

And don't forget 3% quidco

Enjoy freeview or SKY in widescreen, no cropping.

These sets have an excellent picture, worth the extra over bush etc.

From argos or currys excellent buy.

I have a philipps 21" 4:3 tv, that was bought back from asia with me.
HAs component in but no scarts. If only this widescreen had a component.

It has svhs and 2 scarts , 1 rgb enabled which is good.

Wish I could find a good deal on the philipps 28" 100hz crt widesceen.

There is no stock in the warehouse as of 13:11, 16 Nov 06. You might get lucky and find one in a store, but I have had no luck anywhere near Cambridge.

None in stock for Shrewsbury or Durham :(

A CRT will always have a better picture than a similarly priced LCD or plasma. CRTs have been produced for 70+ years and sold in their billions so the technology has been perfected.

Plasma/LCD sets are still in their infancy and the technology still isn't fully developed, imho.

This telly is a bargain imho, pity it's not 28" though!

Lol, oh the irony, I was using one of these until yesterday, and just replaced it :p

Anyone who wants it for £50 in Ipswich or surrounding areas is welcome to it, bought a 22" LCD one from Argos yesterday.

And I've just seen why lol! This thread is from 2006, no wonder it looks outdated lol :p
