How does this compare to the SONY BDPS360 that Richer Sounds will be selling for a similar price?

Like chalk and cheese!

Phillips = Crap! [IMHO :-D]

Cold for me. Philips make lightbulbs and quite poor kettles. Their DVD players are now good because they rebadge them. Bluray? Unknown entity.

If you want a budget player you'd be as well to get a fully multi-region Foehn & Hirsch (DVD AND Bluray] from eBuyer www.ebuyer.com/product/168916 £79.99.

Just came back from my local Asda, and they are priced at £125.00?
#10
Good deal, prices are dropping on thesemachines now and so they should. I agree they will soon be sub £50.

Just read the reviews, and one of them said it plays .MKV's (with DTS support), which I think is an excellent bonus for us downloaders.

Philips makes very good kettles, probably better on average than the more traditional makes, Morphy Richards, Breville, etc. Shouldn't tarnish a whole range just because you have a bad experience with a certain model/product.

Anyway these are now sold out in the my two closest stores.

LOL

I'll stick to Phillips over Foehn & Hirsch thanks. Though I have a Panny so its fairly pointless.

Just to confirm the offer - saw it instore today with plenty of stock left. Nice cheapo bluray option

Thanks for the link, bought mine the other day in Slough.

Package comes with an upgrade CD, I think the link you gave maybe to a later release but it's not obvious what upgrade version is supplied on the CD. I think the one supplied is 942.212 where as the one on your link is 948.412

Can't find much info on this player, there seems to be a lot of similarity with the 3000/05 which is the one reviewed in the earlier links. There is a suggestion that it is compatible with bluray live, profile 2 and that the region hack for the bdp5000/05 will work to make this region free (dvd and bluray). Has anyone bought one and can they confirm any of the above.
#27
I can confirm that this hack worked to convert the player to multi region for DVDs. I haven't got any Blue Ray disks yet so can't confirm if it works for them however it does display region 0 after the hack so should be OK.

okay the link to the update has a faq section and an online manual and the player is profile 1.1.

Quite a few of these in the South Shields branch this morning.

Cheers,

Just bought one, and got a HDMI lead for £3 down from £5 whilst I was there. It's only 75cm, but should do the trick!

Their 1.5 metre leads are reduced in price too.
