#5

#6

Blimey £7 for a kilo is a rip off , i got 1.2kg in my tubs

The pick and mix in my local woolies looked grimy, very old, some have what looks like dirt and dust in. Save money by putting sweets from shelves that have a higher weight value in the cup then put pick and mix on top :p
#9
no such deal in my local woolies

How much is a Kg of sugar in a supermarket? Surely no more than a pound of flesh from Woolies.
#11
Woolworths used to do the best cola bottles ever in their pick n mix.
#12
Woolworths , is that a high street store then ?
Be sad to see them go but at the end of the day dinosaurs die out .
#13
Tubs? Sheesh, only pick and mix I remember is a bag that gets weighed... Nice one though :)
#14
OK here’s a silly question are there any sugar free sweets in the pick’n’mix section :w00t:
#15
When i went in earlier this week they had no cups left :x
#16
Be careful, a mate of mine got some and most of which were stale as they had been sitting there for so long. Rock hard snakes, nice!
#17
The base of the cups are slightly raised, you can press them down with your thumb (before you begin filling) and get extra room, but don't push it too far or it falls out. :whistling:

Everyone keeps banging on about how they will miss the Pic n Mix - am I the only one who thinks it;s just skanky germ ridden, expensive old sweets?

Haribo for me!

Still, a good deal if u like pic and mix and your woolies does the deal :)
#21
:whistling: i thought pick &mix was when you picked your nose &mixed it in the sweets!

Likewise minus the Haribo... Mother-in-law 20 years ago and freind of a freind say the same things today....

I'll be sad to see Woolies go, NOT because of the skanky Pick and mix, but because there are twin brothers in my store who are the most polite helpfull assitants you are ever going to come across:thumbsup: Started as Saturday/part time Jobs I suspect, but working their way up...
one was a minor manager/supervisor level. Not all staff were as good, but it's people like that that will be losing their jobs , and that SUX...

you lot remind me of the Morrison salad squashers:-D

Yea I used to work in a supermarket on a till which faced the pic n mix. I don't think many would fancy eating any of it after watching any of the staff and younger childrens contributions...

my woolies was just 20% off sweets and pick n mix today 2.99 cup cost me 2.39p..wish id gone to yours..lol

my local woolies looks like one of the sets from "Survivors". Now I've seen first hand what shops will look like in a not too distant distopian future when the world as we know it is altered by nuclear warfare or avian influenza. It will be every man for himself, looting and pillaging and clawing at each other to get at the pick 'n' mix (which is practically all empty in this store.. only the old granny sweets with wrappers are left, which this generation is too lazy to eat)

I was sad to hear of Woolworths' demise until I walked into Wilko's today and saw that it is exactly the same shop! They've now moved their pick and mix downstairs and put it near the front doors, and they sell fruit salad and blackjack bars! I can breathe a sigh of relief.

Loving your tips for fitting in as much as possible! Lol - Hot! :w00t:

Our local was selling the actual stock boxes of the pickamix sweets, which were 2, 3 or 4kg boxes of the sweets! They were down to £6 with another 20% off, so £4.80 for them. An example was 4kg of 'chocolate coins' (they were chocolate flavour, otherwise I would have got them) for £4.80, 3kg of lucious lips for £4.80, etc....

That's 12p per 100g for the coins!!!

Tempting.

Hmm mass pick in mix histeria!

Expains latest notovirus outbreak :whistling:
#34
their only asset is on sale then . .

squashing sweets into a tub to pike-e a few more...?

dammit folks i like a bargin but thats going too far!

My local woolies was a sad place today - empty shelves, staff with a harrowing look in their eyes, the vultures of Exeter circling; looking for the last remnants of meat on the carcass of this once high street giant - it was all too much

I had to go WH Smiths to cheer myself up

can't beliv you lot r falling for it. Its a sales tactic, they have made most money out of these sales then any other sales.

Majority 600+ woolies will still stay about.

Its on the news too they got a buyer.

It was all a rumour sales ploy to lead consumers to spend in desprate times.

Do you have a link to this 'news' because I can't find it.

You're mistaking the sales of stores as properties, I think. I'm sure Tesco and Sainsburys will be interested in taking over those smaller stores in market towns and converting to supermarkets, but the bigger properties are sadly doomed. Woolworths as a name will cease to exist in the new year.

Sacking the staff a sales tactic? Somehow i think not. Also they have NOT found a buyer.

No ploy they have been in trouble for a while now. I do have to admit the big 50% of everything signs got me into my local store which was naked (and that was weeks ago).

Wouldn't it be priceless though to see some poor sod have the bottom of their cup drop out because they had crammed 2 cups worth into 1 cup.
