Nope, just standard NiMH.

On the surface this seems like a good deal, but I unsure whether Pifco batteries will really produce the 2500mAH that their advetising promises. Other batteries I have tried from 7DayShop (including own brand and Fameart) actually provide much less power than suggested. 7DayShop own brand 2700mAH AA's only held ~1500mAH's and the Fameart's slightly more when tested in my MAHA 9000 battery tester. Both of these also lost their charge very very quickly when left to stand for a week.

I am not saying these are crap (I have not tested them), although they may well be. The 2x C and 2xD convertors bump up the attraction as they can be genuinely useful.

Hmmm, I've used those adapters in the past but AA batteries just haven't got the power of C or D.

I have those 7-day batteries and (altough I don't have a tester) I can confirm they don't give the mA it says on the tin.

thanks ordered a couple in prep for crimbo and kids toy battery overload - mainly for the adapters tbh even if the batteries aren't up to much

I've just got a set of the 7DS ready to use type, 8 batteries for about 7.58. Agree the converters are a nice idea, for D cells Dealextreme do converters that can accomodate 2 AA's in each cell, useful! This seems an OK deal, but I do think the ready to use are the future.

novice question I bought the Sony 2 AA (2100) batteries and charger from Sainsburys when on the deal, can I use the charger to charge these ?

Many real C & D batteries, especially rechargeables actually contain high power AA cells. I like to use Low Self Discharge batteries and currently there are very few true C & D LSD's available. For example, I use 6x AA Eneloops with C coverters inside my DAB radio and they last for two to three weeks with daily use. Standard Duracell C NiMH rechargeables with a higher mAH rating did not last any longer for me because they self discharged much of their capacity after a week or two. I still have the Duracells in the drawer but I doubt I will use them again unless I run out of C convertors or AA LSD's.

Yes, any standard NiMH charger will work with these.

I've also ordered the 7DS ready to use AA, not got them yet. Are they any good?

I was researching slow discharge C cell rechargables this morning and was surprised at how few companies make them. Ansmann seemed about the only worthwhile option - 4500mAh, getting on for twice the charge of an AA cell in an adapter. But very expensive and seeing as the C cells in my shower radio lasted more than 8 years, I might well just buy some throwaways - just need to remember to actually buy the things when I'm out.

Not buying any standard rechargeables now, even more so with this excellent deal today:
http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/544820/rechargeable-aa-2100mah-good-to-go-?

For all but the rarest circumstances, even though nominally lower power, the low self discharge ones will make you pleased you bought them! :-)

The small saving in price too means you can still get the "free" adaptors from dealextreme or whoever and have the best of both worlds!
