No, not at all, have a look at the Pinnacle link below to see all the info:

http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSite/uk/Products/Consumer+Products/Dazzle/Dazzle+Video+Archiving/Dazzle+DVD+Recorder.htm

The leads you need are a splitter RCA plug to 2 x RCA sockets and 3 fono phono Audio Video AV Plugs to 3 fono phono Audio Video AV Plugs, but you can pick these up from ebay for a song,

For a far cheaper option:
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.5707
$12.51 delivered which is about £8.25. There are 29 reviews on the site, so you might get some ideas what people have achieved with it, and what it can and cannot do.

Might be a couple of weeks coming, but a friend has one, and it works OK

(I know all the pros cons and opinions on Dealextreme, so don't bother going through them all - myself, I don't buy ANYTHING which losing the money on a purchase abroad would cause me great grief - I have personally had zero problems with Dealextreme, and if I did on something like this, the loss of £8.25 wouldn't leave me crying myself to sleep at night, so is a small gamble to save 20 quid!)

Thanks for the tip on that one looks alright. Does it ignore Macrovision on VHS?

Yes that is right. I have a EasyCap witch is just like this Dazzle but it only cost £10. But dazzle has a bit better quality.

Doesnt offer the same as the Pinnacle, why would you waste £8.25 on the off chance (as you said have a gamble for £8.25) it may work when you can be sure it does for £29.99, bare bones item that does not offer the same as the Pinnacle, not worth comparing tbh,

To be honest, never thought about it... VHS quality is so poor, I have never thought about copying a commercial VHS tape to a digital format, I would probably be looking for it in a better resolution - the only stuff I have thought worth keeping despite the poor quality is personal "irreplaceable" stuff which has no Macrovision!

I think you are grossly over-rating Pinnacle as some sort of high-end product. Nothing I have ever seen from Pinnacle has been up to much! It certainly offers nothing more - clearly neither can handle Macrovision as has been mentioned (as commented in various reviews, eg. http://www.gadgetspeak.com/gadget/article.rhtm/751/491084/Dazzle_DVD_Recorder_from_Pinnacle.html although as I have said, it seems odd to want to copy old commercial VHS recordings, as the quality is so poor anyway!

All I know is some time ago I used my friend's kit which was the Dealextreme gadget, and it did a very fine job of some VHS-C recordings, I think back then it was dearer, about £11.50, it came with Ulead software and if had I a use for one long-term other than the one-off job I needed it for, I would have bought one myself. I could have used a RF output from a VHS recorder to my TV card to capture this, but it was that little bit better quality not putting it through the RF of the VHS machine and doing it with the USB device.

The only "gamble" is the same with anything from abroad, I have had no problems with Dealextreme, but have with other companies, therefore now I only buy low value items abroad.
Netto had the same gadget on an offer some months back for about 14 or 15 quid, if I remember correctly, but this is not an option now.

All that said, the Pinnacle one is cheaper elsewhere anyway! - eg. http://www.pc-doctor.org.uk it is £28.72 delivered. I have not really hunted, that was simply from the first search engine I used.
