Is that the same as the model e-buyer are selling for £43.47 + delivery here: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/131852

E buyer price came to £48.16 inc super saver delivery. For some reason there was a 20% shipping discount but delivery would be free if you added other items to make the order £49.99 or more.

No that's the HomeMusic model, which has a much smaller visual display area.

Ooh HOT!!!! I've got one of these and they're BRILLIANT!!! I paid £135 just 6 months ago. I had my eye on a second one priced at £85 so this is excellent.

As well as playing your music from PC/iTunes/NAS, it plays over 5,000 internet radio stations without your client (PC) being on, too. :)

Hi out of interst are you using Vista. I have heard problems with Squeezebox and Vista ( and those units are meant to be excellent), but was wondering if there were issues with this one

anyone had both one of these and a Logik IR100 ?? I am trying to decide whether it worth upgrading what with only having had it for a month and a bit ....

I would like a remote control but not sure that's enough to swing it. Any idea if the audio quality owuld be noticably better over the optical instead of the stereo output to my Pioneer Receiver?

I'm using XP still. I'll be switching to Vista in a couple of weeks. I've not read of any particular problems with Vista on the community forum. Have a read for yourself: http://forums.rokulabs.com/

Oh and the Soundbridge can also be controlled from the web, either by IP or by a neat little java app which someone's written to look like the Soundbridge remote control. You can set a sleep timer and 2 wake-up alarms, too. ;-)

Would you want to stream music from your PC or from a NAS? If it's from a PC, the only benefit the Soundbridge has over your Logik IR100 is the remote control, as you say.

Excellent bit of kit, had one for a year or so now.

Might even be tempted to get another for the bedroom or dining room

looks great - ordered one. Thanks

Now sold out. Bu##er.

Does anybody know what the main differences are between the Pinnacle Soundbridge M1001 model started on this thread and the HomeMusic model posted in this thread by PeterN being sold by ebuyer?

The differences are the display size and no WPA encryption support on the M500. Have a look at the 2nd and 3rd columns to compare here: http://www.rokulabs.com/products_compare.php

seems like a good mp3 streaming device
but i already have two pinnicle show centre 200's that do the same job
it streams either wired or wirelessly avi/mpeg 4/divx/ mp3 etc etc......
will also stream dvds and stream hi def (720p and 1080i) through component
to your plasma and lcd or hi def output device
but you will need a good router to stream dvds and hi def videos wirelessly something like an belkin n1 as there is a lot of info being streamed (mp3s amd divx stream no probs with my pre n router)
they were about £100 each from svp.co.uk when i purchased them at the start of the year.
so if you can afford the extra i would reccommend buying the pinnicle showcentre 200 instead

DONT GET ME WRONG THE SOUND BRIDGE LOOKS GOOD AND IS A GREAT PRICE BUT WITH THE SHOW CENTRE YOU CAN STREAM MORE THAN JUST MUSIC

anyone interested heres the link to the pinnicle site
http://www.pinnaclesys.com/webvideo/showcenter_demo/uk/tv.html
but i am sure you will be able to buy one from a retailer alot cheaper that what they charge

just thought id pass onmy opinion for every one
will still vote hot

The differences for the ebuyer one:-

1) Has smaller LCD display, the Roko one has a flourescent display which is brighter, faster and bigger visual area
2) Has no ethernet port in the back (Roko one has)
3) Has an extra SD card reader
4) The remote appear to have more buttons which gives you access to preset buttons 1 - 6 etc.
5) Roko one has optical and co-ax outputs

All in all the Roko may look better than the ebuyer one but the SD card support may be useful.

I think I shall buy the Roko one first and I speculate that the bigger visual display will display more text on the display about the internet radio stations and song titles , the smaller display will scroll more?

Only Showcast radio stations are supported www.shoutcast.com . Unfortunately all the ones (is it most commercial radio stations?that I need to access do not broadcast in Shoutcast format. So check with Shoutcast web site to see if the ones that you want are on the list! If you have a media player on your PC you will know when showcast is needed because the player will need a shoutcast plugin.

Note that the Pinnacle Products and the Roko do not support real media format (also AAC), so if you happen to need radio stations that only broadcast in Realmedia then stick with the IR100 and any player that supports it. There is just a statement of intention by Pinnacle that Realmedia may be supported in a later firmware release but this may never happen as software licence fees have to be agreed and paid for by Pinnacle (or Roku).

Had one of these Roku M1001s...a lovely unit but flogged it on.

It was for the bedroom & when the lights were out it lit the whole room up....sure, there's a brightness control but to take it down to the level needed for nightime, means you can't see the display during the day...this means constantly adjusting the controls!

Also, I really wanted a clock alarm....I managed to work a kludge but it really was that!

Finally, it was a crock that it had no speakers....again, wanted so it can be played in the bedroom.

Shame really, cos I think it's the best made product out there...it looks superb. If they could just change the spec to built in alarm functionailty & small speakers/amp, they'd have a real winner.

And if they’d add a teas-made and trouser press they'd really be on to something. :giggle:

A word of warning about the Showcenter 200 it will not work with Windows Vista and an update to software is not forthcoming either.

I must admit i have not tried it on vista as my main pc is running xp
but both my laptops have vista installed from new
and they both pick up the 2 show centres wirelessly but i have not installed the software on them but will take your word for it
but 2 people can be watching the same film or different films in different rooms of the house at different times (ie 5 or 10 mins behind) with no slow down whatssoever and are both able to fast forward / rewind / pause etc......

Mine worked flawlessly with XP but as soon as i got a new PC with Vista and tried installing the Showcenter software it wouldnt install.Pinnacle wont update the software for Vista either. You can still use it on Vista with Swisscenter software but i found it cumbersome to use.

It's already got 2 alarms and a sleep function built into it. :p

I think adding speakers would only increase the price and as most people already have a speaker system somewhere in their house, I don't think it would add anything. Far better to be able to choose the speakers you want, based on your budget and ear sophistication! :)

I've had no confirmation either although I paid with Paypal. So I just registered a new account with BP and it shows that I have placed an order and the status shows as paid. Try that! :)
