Selling for £89.99 + p&p in PC World, this is an amazing deal (poss. pricing error).
Having used the Pinnacle Studio software in its various revisions over the years, I can state that it is very easy to get into, but as feature-rich as anything you could buy! Studio 11 also handles hi-def video, so is an ideal gift for any budding Spielberg!

I was searching for this software yesterday and came across this offer - which is pretty much what you have to pay for the 'Basic' version (There is Studio and Studio Plus also).

Very good price. This was on The Gadget Show this week. Reviews are supposed to be good but you will probably need a fairly high spec machine for editing Hi Def.

I have a Core2 Duo with 2 Gb Ram and a decent graphics card - handles HD no problem.

No idea what 'reviews' they were talking about, unless it's magazines that have played with for 5 minutes on their Cray Super computers. This software is as buggy as bug hell. See reviews on Amazon, most are less than positive.

Stick to Sony Vegas Platinum if you want reliable industry quality software which edits HD without any hassle.

Nero 8 is great for playback.

The Gadget Show is so poor, "lets find the best HD camera" (out of only 2 models out of a possible 20, which we've also been given by the manufacturer to give away in our great money making phone line competition). Crock.

The show seems to be aiming for a Top Gear for gadgets look and feel and whilst I do enjoy it I don’t take it seriously as a source of reviews.

Having done lots of research concerning which is the best between Adobe Premiere, Sony Vegas and Pinnacle Studio, I came to the conclusion that each has benefits and disadvantages over the other. Forums are full of people like this who manically advocate the use of their own favourite whilst slagging off the competition. The upshot is that there is no definitive 'best'. The users of Pinnacle state that theirs is the most superior, same with Vehas and AP. Please don't take my word for it - check out the user forums.

I've used Studio 11 for a couple of months now and it is absolutely NOT 'buggy as hell'. It is a great piece of (easy-to-use) editing software IN MY OPINION. If someone else prefers Sony Vegas or Premiere then that is their own choice - however I wouldn't start slagging off the others unless there was an absolute clear case.

The misinformation you give above might genuinely put some people off a good deal. :-(

What misinformation?! Excuse me, I can read. If it is not 'buggy as hell' what is the majority of people who have bought it complaining about then? That is not bias or preference, that is experience and stated faults/errors.
I have tried every recent version of this software, across several different computer systems, all as up to date and current as I can get at the time and it has never worked properly. Their customer support is also terrible.

I edit video and produce DVDs for travel companies as a job - I have found Sony Vegas to be the best, most reliable editing software available for the money. I use the Pro version, but Platinum is just as useful.

I also use Final Cut Pro and even for basic jobs, iMovie '06, which is just brilliant. All work better more of the time than Pinnacle. Even Ulead Studio 11 is more up to the task.
Based on many hours experience and reading many many user reviews I would declare that their is a far higher likelihood that people will be majorly dissapointed if they buy Pinnacle. But you would prefer people take the 40% gamble it will work for them?

And now after its less than stellar outing on The Gadget Show, you wonder why it's a half price 'bargain'.

Well, just like you have found Vegas superior, I found it very difficult to get into and not nearly as intuitive as Studio. As for it being buggy - perhaps that was the case on original release, but the version I have used has been robust and stable.

I suggest anyone wanting a balanced view checks out the numerous websites that have been covering this ongoing debacle:

Or just go for it at this bargain price (as not recommended by The Gadget Show) and look to multiply to safeguard your £40 as he guarantees it is not buggy as hell.

You best state your PC spec multiply, might be useful as a get out.

And you accuse me of misinformation regarding bugs, then you point people to forum's which highlight the bugs in it. No software is 100%, but Lord, give me strength.

You are quite right, sburley.
I apologise and retract this entire posting. All the thousands of satisfied Studio users, like myself, must be complete morons.

So, pray tell, as I have found this Studio software at less than 50% SRP, please post your bargain for the Vegas software you keep banging on about.

That IS what this site is about, isn't it? Posting bargains? I stupidly thought telling the folks here about this package at a 50%+ discount was the right thing to do. Stupid me. I won't be back.
