This is the brand new 9th gen plasma from Pioneer, it is scarcely available at the moment with only a handful of shops advertising it for sale, it has just been added to the ED website and it is around £100 cheaper than anywhere else. Become an EDXTRA member for an extra £30 and get a free 3 year warranty on this.

There is also a 10% off code floating about but I have not checked whether it will work on this TV or not. Quidco may also reduce the price.

Before voting cold for it being over 2 grand for a TV be aware that this is probably the best TV available at the moment and the fact you can pick up other 1080p TVs for a quarter of the price is irrelevant.

So the cold votes must mean its available cheaper elsewhere????

So this is as cold as ice yet not a single voter has had the decency to state why? I thought this site was all about finding products at their cheapest available price however it appears this is not the case. A deal is obviously only hot if you can afford it, if it is out of the price range of the general public it must automatically be a cold deal.

I will therefore continue to look for a ****** 1080p no name LCD that can be picked up for £2.37 as it appears that this is what people want.

If i come across a brand new Ferrari for £7500 whilst searching i shall not bother to post that deal because obviously shelling out £7500 is a lot of money and therefore will be a freezing cold deal!

Good deal for this TV. Voted hot. Pioneer is without a doubt the roll-royce of flat panels.

Unfortunately this is not going to appeal to the masses, so it's going to get cold votes from the "I can get a Visitron for a quarter of this price" brigade.

Don't get discouraged by the "negative" voting. Thanks for the post.

just chill out this is a consumer website - majority wins - some times you can post something and it'll get shed loads of heat others not. Does is affect your quality of life the fact that this is cold -- no ? As you said this is out of most peoples price range so has minimal appeal so I would expect you to see a couple of positive comments for which those ppl will thank you for your post.

Essentially its a brand new product so will be selling v close to RRP and you have found a place where its ~4% lower than elsewhere - hardly gonna knock my socks off.

And nothing lowers a temp like the poster moaning about the response too !

So Mr. Ninja, before I vote could you tell me what the TV is like? When are you expecting it to be delivered?

What?

You're not buying it yourself?

I feel you may be being a tad hypocritical slagging people off for voting cold to a deal which, for them, is too much to pay for a 50" TV. I'm not disputing that this may be a good deal to the handful of people who might actually pay this for a TV. However, you should also know your audience. The bulk of people are on here to try and get a good bargain. 2K plus for a TV is not a bargain, it is an enthusiast's TV for an enthusiast's price until the next couple of technological leaps bring this type of TV within the budget's of the rest of us.

Rant over. Sorry, must have got out of the wrong side of bed this morning. :whistling:

LOL, yes I will actually be buying the TV but that is not the point. As I stated I obviously got it wrong when I thought this site was all about finding the best price for a particular product, when I see people post deals for a pair of their dads gruds I dont vote it cold because I find them too cheap and nasty I just dont vote simpe as that. People vote cold on here when they dont have a clue what they are voting on purely on the basis that they cant afford it yet will vote a no name TV hot despite the fact it may be absolute garbage on the basis that its cheap.

Like I said its my mistake for misunderstanding the point of this site and I will adjust my deal submissions accordingly!

As for the poster who doesnt have his socks blown off by a 4% saving I would love to see your reaction should the goverment put income tax up by 4p in the £, I assume it would not bother you because hey its only 4% and nothing to get your socks blown off over!!

Hmm - one of purchase of £2200 - saving of 100 quid ~ 4 % saving

Income tax - taken monthly for the next 30 or so years of my working life - my annual salary is nearly 20 times the price of this plasma so it would make a bit more of a blip on my financial radar than a 100 quid saving on a one off purchase - Surprisingly - really good comparison though thanks.

Hi

I've been following this on the AVforums. The reviews are outstanding so far. Empire also have the 60" at £3933.99 with the stand.
Best price for an excellent screen.

This is 500 quid cheaper than what I paid for -quite a mega deal. Heat and rep added.

The problem with this site now is that the majority of users have actually forgot the meaning of a good/bad deal compared to other competitors. Not if its out of their price range or not or they can get a completely different brand at a cheaper price.

Yes, I think you have misunderstood the point of this site. However, perhaps not in the way you think. This is, first and foremost, a community of people looking to save money. As was previously mentioned there may be one or two people delighted to read your post and save £100 on a brand new state of the art telly. However, as I said, the bulk of the community are looking for bargains so you can't expect a deal for a 2K plus telly to be voted hot. You should judge whether your post was worthwile by the number of positive comments you get, not by the number of negative posts or anonymous cold voters.

Above everything else, please stop whinging if people vote cold on a deal such as this. Understand your audience and you might be able to chill out a bit.

4% is 4% whether its a one off payment or not, if 4% of your salary and by my reckoning we are talking around £2k went missing one month I would be very surprised if you just wrote it off as "oh well its only a one off payment of 4%".

If we are not interested in making any kind of savings whether it be 1%, 4% or 50% then hotukdeals would not exist nevermind the likes of Quidco etc etc!

deals are on here that save a lot more than 4% and fizzle away with a little heat - my point being even if this a great product a 4% saving is never gonna get loads of heat - especially with its small market of appeal. So dont moan about lack of heat as this deal was never gonna attract the mass appeal required to get much heat. And moaning will only help to chill your deal a little further - your deal will benefit those who are interested whether its 200 degrees or -10 - from those benefiting I would expect some rep and thanks and thats good enough for me.

And your argument of a percent is a percent is bizzare - I happyily tip 10% in a restuarant but not when I bought my house - the magnitude of the purchase makes a HUGE diffrence.

Hey ho - Great screen apparently, great price apparently so come everyone vote hot - if not for me, for the origami ninja . . .

good price for an amazing TV - voted hot from me

Well to get this back on some form of track,

I wonder if they will be bring out another model (like the 8th generation) with extra features.

5080d > 508d (direct colour filter 3+)

5090 (already has direct colour filter 3+) > 509 ?

*EDIT* just gone to their website and it's £2799.99

Just as a matter of interest- the link doesn't work for me and when I go to the site manually it shows at £2,799.99. Am I missing something?
