Still searching for a good all-round budget system, think I may have found it, spec seems good to me and at sub £200 think it's a good deal hence the post...

From the site;

For home cinema at its most convenient, try the Pioneer DCS-370 for size.

Despite it's compact, good looks, this Pioneer home cinema system packs quite a punch - a healthy 60 watts to each channel to be precise. Coming complete with four "tallboy" speakers, the DCS370 has remarkable sound imaging and truly envelopes you in sound. To ensure that the spacious midrange and treble is backed up by some serious punch, the subwoofer adds an extra layer of depth and weight. Yet, at just 18cm wide, it's also easy to position.

The main unit itself is no larger than a DVD player, yet is packed with useful features. The DVD player will happily accept most discs, including DivX and AAC (as used by iTunes) files. Added to this is the convenience of a USB socket. This allows for the connection of media players, through the DCS370, directly to your TV and surround sound system (Dolby Pro-Logic II) - perfect for digital cameras and mobile phones.

As you'd expect from a quality brand like Pioneer, a great deal of care has been taken to get the best picture and sound quality possible. Examples of this can be seen by the inclusion of a top quality HDMI socket, 12-bit video converter and quality components used throughout.

If only the convenience of a one-box system will do, then the Pioneer DCS370 is top of its class.

Spec:

AV processor Dolby ProLogic II and DTS
Power output (watts) 360 Unit of power. More watts mean more power, but how loud a system sounds also depends on speaker sensitivity and room size.

Tuner bands AM/FM Tuner to listen to the radio.

RDS Yes A system provided by numerous radio stations, including additional digital signals to include features such as EON and PTY.

Number of speakers (exc. sub) 5 Speakers included with the package, excluding the subwoofer.

Subwoofer Yes The lowest frequency speaker used in a multi-speaker system, used to provide clear and resonant bass sound reproduction.

Multi-region No DVD player that would allow you to play all specific geographical region DVDS. All our DVD players are PAL-NTSC, dual voltage and all region playbacks compatible unless specified.

For most of our DVD players need a multisystem TV or a compatible TV to play various regions DVD discs unless specified. Most our DVD models also play regular music cds and video discs (vcd).

CDR / RW playback Yes Allows the playback of recordable CDs and re-writable CDs.
MP3 playback Yes Music can be downloaded from the internet or from a CD onto a PC quickly whilst retaining the digital quality.

Number of scart sockets 1 21-pin cable connector which enables high-quality pictures and stereo sound (including Dolby Pro-Logic soundtracks) to be sent between different AV equipment.

Remote Yes Enables you to operate your equipment from a remote handset.

Any opinions, tech advice would be great...

Looks like you can get it for £199.99 and free postage at Electric shop
#2
Another system where you can ONLY get digital surround on the DVD player.
No digital inputs, so it wont work with SKY, your XBOX etc etc. What a joke..and a waste of £200.
#3
Here's a review looks good however it says it's only outputting 1080i and that it has no optical in for Sky (if that's important to you).

I wouldn't go that far, not everybody needs the digital inputs.

Do you have a system in mind that would offer all needed for the price point?

Thanks Umanga (rep left) it's just very frustrating but I guess the old saying goes; 'you can't please everyone all of the time'

It's like telling a joke only to find they've heard it before - disapointing/anti-climax :-D

The search continues....for a post people will like... :whistling:

Keep on posting deals d_dixon50. I am sorry but this is a very cold price as it can be had from Askdirect (instore/online) for £179.99. It has also been cheaper at Dixons and Currys during sales.

dont listen to the di**heads that are quick to slate people off. if you check some of there profiles youll often be surprised to see that they themselves never share any hot deals.

voted hot cos pioneer make some pretty good stuff so this is a good price.
some of the scrooge users on here are only used to spending about £50 for some cheap s**t system so dont really know quality;-)

Dont take my comments as me deliberately slating.
I am just advising fairly. I had a pioneer all in one 4 years ago... DCS-313...and that was pretty good, but had digital inputs so that you could use the speakers for other things. Quite why they have gone backwards with audio inputs is beyond me.
http://www.homecinemachoice.com/pdfs/WHC/200402/034_WHC_FEB04.pdf

Seriously, why would you have massive tallboy speakers taking up half your lounge, but then be unable to use them properly when watching TV? Its madness.
Just because something says "half price" it doesnt mean its a good deal.

There are dozens of surround systems for that price bracket which do a complete job.

And sul...I am not a scrooge user that only spends £50 on a cheap system. (Not sure why you feel the need to swear with asterisks...very mature). I buy decent equipment...but I do RESEARCH before I part with my money.
The problem with this site is that people post "half price" and people impulse buy. If I did an impulse buy on this for £200, and then it arrived but I found I couldnt plug in SKY or my 360, I would be very disappointed. And I am sure you would be to.

So yes, I will continue to post and let people know about the negatives of systems such as this. Apologies if you believe that threads should only have positive comments..but that just wouldnt be balanced would it?

Furthermore...the price of £205 is already beaten (as above post by chris_karu), and is matched or beaten by many more
http://www.wikio.co.uk/guide/pioneer-dcs-370-98014.html

There is no need to take it personally.
I dont find may "great" deals..which is why I dont post many.

how is this comment advising fairly? you've just ridiculed the poster.
yes its good to advise people and rate if the deal is hot or cold but there is simply no need to to make childish comments like 'what a waste of £200' people can make there own mind up.

and nobody's taking it personally. if the price is already beaten then why hasn't it been posted on here?

and like its mentioned above, not everybody needs digital inputs. if people impulse buy then its just there own fault really for not doing there research but im sure they,re not that stupid.

Mate, this is not a price comparison site. The reason the deal was not posted previously is simple. Not every single item in the world is worthy of coming on hotukdeals. I could go through every surround system, find the cheapest price, and post 2000 seperate deals. According to many peoples logic on here, they all should be voted hot because "its the cheapest price for that item".
The reality is that other factors go into a hot deal..such as value for money.

I agree, perhaps my comments look a bit snappy. But it IS a waste of £200 really isnt it? Even if you dont need another input for now...I am sure you will in the future. Buying a stereo without digital input is worse than buying a TV without HDMI.

And yes, people will buy it if advised incorrectly. If everybody said "oh, its £5 cheaper than elsewhere..therefore hot...it goes to 200 degrees". People think its a bargain, and they buy it. Believe me.

OPs get very defensive about their deals unfortunately. In the grand scheme of the world..getting rep from internet people is irrelevant. Id rather post and get moaned at by an OP than see somebody spend £200 on a system that is outdated. There are better deals for the price.
