Link should be working now...

Hello people, excuse my ignorance but can this only be used with the xbox 360? I want a good surround system for my plasma/dvd/xbox 360 but I don't understand the bit about "DVD System: For exclusive use with Xbox 360" does anyone know? Thanks :)
#5
these deals always come up a little late for me :( lol
#6
cant see how it only works with xbox 360, should work with anything with optical inputs really... as thats what it uses, check pioneers site.
#7
"2 Optical/1 Coaxial/1Analog" So you can plug a few things in.
#8
I'd be interested to know what people think of this, I'm no audiophile but I'm considering a surround setup for my room for which this looks extremely good.

600w RMS is a hell of a lot of power output for the XBox
#10
Then again, it's for serious gamers and can be used for movies or music too :)
#11
Arrrrgh lol - this came 4 days too late :( I searched and searched for a decent 5.1 to use with my new Samsung and Xbox 360 and ended up getting a cheapie (along with an upscaling dvd player) fro Pixmania.

This one looks gorgeous tho.....someone hide my mastercard !!!!

UPDATE:-

Ooops too late :-D Couldn't say no to this - thanks emma ;-)

Anybody know of a decent Wireless 5.1 surround system? Only way I would be able to get the wife to agree to satellite speakers in the living room.
#18
logitech make one, but pretty pointless as u still need to run wires to the power outlet.

just find a way to make the wires stealth! lol

comments like that, really make me fear ever getting married.

Yes researching more, you would still need to connect to a plug socket, so pretty pointless.I'm surprised my wife let me get an XBOX 360, managed to convince her i was buying it as a media centre device for the new plasma(the plasma also took some convincing too) !
#20
The Media centre line does seem to work well, these girls love being able to record a series of shows at a touch of a button... i told my brother in law about that feature, and he felt it might help sway him being allowed one!

First of a huge thanks for posting this offer. Just ordered myself one of these from Play - what a saving!! From the reviews I read around the net it appears to be scoring very highly although can take some tweaking of the settings to get it perfect. I also like the fact that you can stack the rear speakers on top of the fronts and it will emulate the rear surround by bouncing the sound of the walls - not perfect but good for those people who don't like cables everywhere. Plus set up is done for you by a microphone that picks up the test tones :)

It also appears to have just come out, can anyone confirm that? Amazon just emailed yesterday about it with an offer of £40 vouchers after sale but with a price of £299 I know which one I will go with!!

Does anybody know if Play are an approved Pioneer vendor as there is also an offer direct from Pioneer for 2 free Xbox 360 games - Burnout Revenge and Need For Speed: Most Wanted. You can see the T&C of the offer here

The T&C's state "In-store purchase" so doesnt sound like its going to be valid...

but if you check ebuyer.com they are promoting the two free games offer so I dont think it can be instore only ...
#25
Rang Pioneer today to check and they have said that they have no authorised sellers online, they are all in-store only. I asked specifically about Play and was told a straight no :(

Oh well at the price Play have it for it is still a good deal and you pick the two games up on Ebay pretty cheaply.

Mine shipped today so looking forward to receiving it in a few days :)
#26
Got mine!!...looking forward to setting it up this weekend and GAME ON!

Hey all. On the matter of these 2x free games, it seems as though we're getting conflicting information.

Over on the avforums, hamd01 posted a response he'd allegedly had from Pioneer UK. The full thread can be read here.

I reckon it's worth a shot, in light of this, and have downloaded, completed, printed and returned the claim form (along with the original play.com Invoice that was delivered with the system, accordingly. Make sure you take a copy of this, in case you need it).

You can download the form from this page.

Got to be worth the price of a stamp.

Hope that helps guys 'n' galls.

Definitely worth a try, thanks for the info Gibs! :santa:

Just as a side, I took some time to set this system up properly this evening, and have just watched 'V for Vendetta'.

The experience was most impressive, and made the movie far more enjoyable for me.
#31
thats what I like to hear, I just ordered one from play, now to track down a bloomin HD DVD add on for the 360:roll:
#32
This is probably a daft post but is it likely that the Xbox buttons on the remote would work with the original XBox??

Ie. are the infra red signals compatible?
#33
I’ve been checking out surround sound for gaming for a while now. Has anyone considered getting 5.1 surround headphones??? Eg http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-MDR-DS3000K-Infrared-Wireless-Headphones/dp/B0001ZN88A/sr=8-22/qid=1165652232/ref=sr_1_22/203-4479173-3001513?ie=UTF8&s=electronics
Or http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sharkoon-X-Tatic-Digital-Certified-Headphones/dp/B000GIXISM/sr=8-1/qid=1165652294/ref=pd_ka_1/203-4479173-3001513?ie=UTF8&s=electronics

These two seem to have had the best reviews. My problem is I already have surround sound dvd but no optical in to plug in the ps2/xbox360 so don’t really want to get a new surround system with separate amp to allow this input. Another reason for the headphones is to get two independent sound outputs from the tele when using Picture in Picture on my LCD, my bird watches tele on one side I play games on the other with headphones on…

So should I go for a system like the Pioneer ditching my existing system or the headphones….

Cheers for any reply
#34
I think you have both gone a bit off topic! :)
#35
yeah sorry thought it might interest some people as an alternative
#36
Mine arrived from Play yesterday (would have been here earlier if it wasn't for useless ParcelForce!) and I am very impressed with it and I still haven't set it up correctly! For £150 it is an absolute steal!!

Thanks to GibsonSt19 for the link to the AVForums post abut the 2 games will give that a try. £150 for the system and 2 games has got to the bargain of the year for me :)

Well, can't quite believe it, not only did I get the system for a decent price, but after submitting the claim form to Pioneer for the 2x 360 games I have today received 'Need For Speed: Most Wanted', and 'Burnout Revenge'!

Talk about speedy! I am MOST impressed, with both play.com AND Pioneer.

Good luck to them in business, I say.

Get those forms sent in!

P.s. They returned my original play.com invoice too (AND the claim form?! I hope this doesn't open them up to abuse).
#38
Thanks for the update Gibson!

As for potential abuse for getting your original invoice back, I guess part of the reason they want the invoice at all is 1) get your name address 2) get your customer or other ID number from the store in question. Both of these will be recorded in their system and they'll know not to send another copy out should some try for the 2nd time :)
