Edit! You did have.

I could of only edited it 10 seconds after submitting, good work :-)

If you have the money, Pioneer are the ones to go for.
Was in Costco, they had a Pioneer and samsung same resolution side by side, it was quite clear the Pioneer was better in every respect, but it was twice the price.

This tv is 1799.95 at Richer Sounds.

superfi 5 years warranty is £450!!!!

Richer sounds warranty is £179.95.

Overall I would want the warranty on such an expensive purchase.

I have not checked John lewis price.

Overall this is a cold deal unless you want a 1 year warranty.

This place does it for 1799 and a free 5 year warranty. Thats your hot deal!!!! Blows this deal out the water!!!!

Richer Sounds will price beat this by over £10-25 I think it is.

This offer is cold

Tesco currently have a 50 inch HD ready tv for £880

They also have a FULL HD ready 50 inch panasonic for £1200

They only come with a years gaurantee but u can pay £100 for 3 years but i would personally recomend you go to your local panasonic shop and check the prices and tell them about tescos offers cause they will match it and give you a longer gaurantee.

This may very well be a cold deal price wise as others have stated you can get this TV elsewhere with a 5 year guarantee for not much more money however you can not compare other 50 inch TVs to this and vote it cold for that reason, the Pioneer is light years ahead of anything you will find in Tescos. This is the best TV available.

You're not for real are you!
There are TV's and there are TV's and your £800 Tesco one ain't gonna be no match for a Pioneer Kuro which is currently considered one of the best telly's you can buy.
I can buy a 2.0TDi from BMW, but then again I could spend a lot less and get a Citroen - You get the idea.
It really beats my why people like you bother to vote.

This is a terrible comparison. This is a great price for a top of a range plasma. I paid double that for my Pioneer two years ago.

I have a few friends that have a Panasonic plasma and they all agree the picture can't compare to mine.

Crikey. Virtually three times the price of my 50" 1080p Samsung.

It had better be bloody good!

The free 5 year warranty is shown as being valid instore only.
I don't think Richersounds are authorised to offer the current Pioneer 5 year warranty.
I bought this TV from my local Pioneer dealer for £1800 just before Xmas and they delivered it straight away. It pays to shop around.

wow what a helpful post!!! NOT

You might as well post a link to a LCD offer ;p

Seriously, please compare like with like.

£1200 for a panny doesn't sound like a particularly good deal either.

the pioneer is much better than any tv from tesco including the panny - just because its full hd doesnt guarantee a decent picture - quantity does not exceed quality

and ill bet the samsung was full hd/1080p too....pioneer's are the best

prob is they are expensive, but then again so are bmw's / audi's / mercs - people buy them because generally they are better quality than pugs/citroens/fords/vauxhalls - depends whether you think its worth the extra money
#16
the way to see the difference with pioneer vs others is to look at the density of the 'blacks'. Pioneer is the only engine that has really deep black blacks. Black is the hardest colour to show on plasma.

i used to work in an industry where plasma colour replication was critical and pioneer was th eonly product used!!

There is no way the Tescos can match it. But if you dont care about the quality then you dont need a pioneer. If you want the best - then this is the baby.

They have their own 5 year warranties and price match scheme? Why do they need pioneers? They do seem to have a lot of pioneer stock at mo. Must admit I spent about 5 mins to find the offer from the other site.

As for the teco comparison. Theres probably a reason why the Tesco one is half price. Check the specs before you compare prices!!!

I'd sooner have the manufacturer's warranty over the RS one.

I assume this is the same for John Lewis too?

Richer Sounds have been round since 1978. I generally have faith in them to fix products. Even having a pioneer warranty doesnt mean they will have the parts to fix the TV if it goes wrong. It also means waiting for an engineer to visit. Lot easier to take it into a store to be replaced.

The company may just offer you a cash alternative for a new set. Of course this will be just enough to replace your model with something similar. So in this case maybe 700-800 quid in 2-3 years time.

A friend of mine was offered just over £300 to replace his bulky 32 inch tv he paid nearly a grand for.

Anyway if you buy from a relaible firm and a decent tv it shouldnt really go wrong!!! Well you would hope. :whistling:

I dont understand why this deal is getting more heat when for a few quid more you can get a 5 year warranty.

In truth I would sooner have the JL warranty over the Pioneer one as I have recently had dealings with JL and a TV, I cannot speak highly enough of them.

I think if a firm offers a 5 year warranty unless they go bust they should honour it. How likely they are of answering your call or charging you £1 a min to chat to someone is another matter.
