If I was buying it today, I'd pay the extra 10% and get 5 years warranty protection too

NO EYED DEER? Seems great for a 3D receiver,

I am giving it a hot vote because I like these Pioneer AV's...definately a "top brand AV" .......

Voted hot, ppl prolly won't understand the difference between HDMI 1.3 and 1.4 compatability. And those that do understand it, all seem to be Donkyo fanboys or RS haters. I think this is not a bad bit of kit for the price. Definately a good deal.

HOT, Pioneer AVs are class. Just need some nice speakers to go with it and you got yourself one nice sound system.
#7
The spring-loaded terminals for the surround and centre speakers are a bit disappointing, as is the lack of multi-channel analogue input. That aside, if you have a pure HDMI environment and don't need or have the space for 7.1 then this is a great deal.

I have the vsx920 and it's great! crystal clear sound with all the latest codecs and a range of inputs, if you don't want a 7.1 then this is def worth considering...esp at this price

Says £199 when I go to the link.

Noob question (apols) - can I put my PS3 through this with HDMI?

I've owned A/V amps with banana plug, binding post and spring-loaded terminals and, yes, you can use thicker speaker cable, but I've yet to hear the difference.

Is this better than a Sony?

Yawn

Got that amp as part of pioneer htp 200 package with speakers. Great system for the price and good compromise for movies and music. Have to mess around with buttons a bit to get the best sound and distinguishing connections can be interesting as it calls them BD-DVD-CDR etc whether they are in the HDMI, component or optical port.

Logitech one if your missus will use it ;-)

Pioneer? Never heard of them, would rather have a Sony.

I will never buy anything from Richer Sounds again.

I had a Sony DVD 5.1 combo a few years ago. That went pop 1 month after the warranty ran out. It wasn't the best but I was gutted.

I later found out that they sell new products, but also
re-conditioned/warranty returns (by the official manufacturers), catalogue returns, x-display and demo.

Quite clearly the hate there has got you all in a fluster, I understand what your saying. I think. I bought an open box amp with warranty thrown in for free. Its well worth it, as Im sure if you buy the warranty, and you do not use it you can claim that back. But dont quote me on that.

No one cares what you've heard of or what you'd rather have. No one gives a toss about you.
