Tentatively posted. Looks like a good deal, but I've never ordered anything from Deal Extreme before now. I assume the tablet may be subject to import charges but I'm not altogether sure. Sorely tempted to buy this. It gets generally very good reviews. Anyone got one or has a view on buying it from Deal Extreme? Cheers.

Yes 3- 4 weeks wait and chance of 140 becoming 200 if hit by VAT and import duty plus royal mail handling charge,

£28 according to this. It's about a tenner for the Royal Mail handling charge isn't it, so £178 worst case scenario, if it gets stopped?

I kind of expected it to go cold but was hoping for a few opinions on the unit itself and Deal Extreme's reliability before it disappeared into the cold depths. :(;)

Deal Extreme are slowwwwww. Had to dispute my last transaction after it never showed after 6 weeks. They refused to refund, but raised through PayPal and won.

Have other orders before that been okay? I'm going to pay through Paypal too - taking no chances! ;)

I've bought smaller stuff from DX and never had a problem - speed about the usual for China, and no problem with the post office (ie got through without extra charges).

RK3188-based retina tabs are slow.

It's now possible to get the RK3288-based version of the same tab from AliExpress for around the £140 mark.

If I were buying such an item from China I'd have one of those instead. The memory throughput is capable of supporting high-res screens without lag, and Antutu scores are coming on for double what this gets.

I know that a recent update for the M6 sorted out a bit of lag but I didn't know that the RK3188 is slow per se. I've had another search and Pipo have recently released the P1 which I think is the machine you're talking about. Roughly £160 - 170 for a 3g machine. Decisions decisions! :)

The RK3188 isn't slow -- in fact it's a very good SoC -- but it's not up to the job of supporting very high resolution screens unfortunately -- Rockchip have issued an update to a lot of tabs which reduce the resolution down to 1600x1200 which gets rid of the lag, but if you've paid for a retina panel you want a retina panel :)

I've also bought from DX in the past with no issues but for something this price I'd be also be tempted to check geekbuying.com. I've just pre-ordered a MINIX X8 TV box from them on the strength of recommendations on freaktab. Good communication and the item is now on its way with a tracking number even though I chose the slow free delivery option. They are gadget specialists were I would rate DX as a general Chinese sales operation. my 2c anyway!

Ahh, that makes sense of what I've what I've been reading. Will definitely look for an RK-3288 machine in that case. Thanks very much for info. :)

The other processor worth a look may be the Intel Z3735d, Onda V975i or Teclast X98.

Only ever received one thing in three. And that didn't work (phone jammer).

Hope you have better luck, as many seem to have.
