Ive been looking for a trip beam type alarm for the driveway...something I can mount higher up my wall so as not to be activated by cats and leaves lol

Anyone know of anywhere? ...I know I could have put this in requests, but /i thought Id try a quick hijack

The driveway PIR looks a nice piece of kit for the money, I wish I had a Netto closer to me (nearest is 50+ miles).

If some kind sole is going would they pick up one for me? I will cover the postage costs to me. Can pay by PayPal or Moneybookers.

Leaves and livestock will always be a problem with cheap, 'low-intelligence' PIR's. Costlier ones have better discrimination built into the lens and processing electronics. On the other hand, you could always experiment with tape and block off the lower half of the lens which is the part that creates the detection zones pointing downwards...
I'm using the PIR / remote triggered AutoDialler system produced by Lelux (in China) - seems to work reliably...good RF performance too. But that's indoors....
An reliable outdoor trigger unit needs good environmental performance - temp, humidity, vibration, etc.....that costs money. ;-) Being insect-proof is useful too...!

A Trim Beam...an electronic version of a trip wire...an laser beam trip system that if someone blocks the beam, an alarm goes off...

My Ex's dad had one on the road leading up to his Farm, but obviously I cant go there and ask where he got it from lol

Weather and time permitting I'll pop into Netto's tomorrow. My nearest one is also 50 miles away but I've got a business meeting to attend and I should have time after that. Failing that, I'll get my Sister to pick one up from Wakefield.
I would prefer BACS payment, it's fee-less.

No probs with BACS payment, thanks

Well called into Netto for the 1st time today and picked up a few things e.g. halogen lamp (very useful), shed solar light and mini fryer (£7.99). Decided to pass on the alarm although there were a load left.

Woman on till seemed to take pleasure in informing me they dont do cash refunds AFTER I bought them and was packing away!

Am happy with my purchases tho :P

Im bumping this topic as Ive found the ideal device for a driveway/doorway/etc

Ok, it requires self assembly and youd need to house it in something waterproof, but, its much less prone to false alarm...you can set this up at such a height, that you know if someone is passing through it, rather than a cat or a leaf blows past...
