This is a marmite film. I absolutely loved it. Yes, it was gory - but it is about killer piranhas! And, yes, it's a lad's movie as there is so much T&A. But this is the best 3d film I have seen so far. The 3d works really well. And you get the feeling that the director etc are totally in charge of their material. And Christopher Lloyd is in it too!

I am tempted for this price. It's hot.

The worst film I have ever seen in the cinema - and a definite contender for the worst film I've ever seen full stop!

Nothing to do with it being gory, just annoyingly idiotic (and this is coming from someone who loves films like American Pie and the countless spinoffs...). As to the 3D working really well... really? There was 1 split second shot which looked 3D to me, the rest just looked 2D - what other 3D films have you seen to come to that conclusion!

Good price though for those who liked it for some strange reason!

Lol. You went and saw it in the cinema - by choice! You knew it was a schloker film about killer piranhas. Or did you intend to buy a ticket for something else?

The 3d is very good - at home on my C680 - I can't tell you what the moments are without giving away the best bits of the movie in a spoiler. For example, the 3d in this film is better than that in, say, Shrek 4 3d.

As I say, it's a marmite film. If this is your bag, I totally recommend it.

It is what it is; a film about killer Piranha attacking a beach during spring break. Cue tonnes of (really very realistic, aside from the cause) gory deaths, boobs and fairly cheesy (but not OTT) dialogue. It knows exactly what it does and doesn't pretend to be anything else, the films tongue is wedged deep within it's cheek. If you enjoy classic monster horror you'll enjoy this, it's not for when you want a deep and engaging watch, but it you want a fun piece of entertainment you can't do much better in my opinion.

The sequel will be called Piranha 3DD

should tell you exactly what to expect

Eat your money instead.

This film is amazing, and the 3d looks great on my 3dtv too, very hot

Amazing film, easily one of the top ten in 2010.
Anyone who says otherwise is WRONG and a grotesquely ugly freak.

Whilst not to everyones taste, this film is A LOT of fun, The people who say it is the worst film they have ever seen clearly aren't a fan of the genre which leads me to wonder why they were even watching it in the first place.

Surely no-one went into this film expecting it to be serious?

Actually yes! I was hoping to see Toy Story 3 but got talked into seeing this!

Maybe it's better than Shrek, but in the cinema I genuinely only noticed that one split second scene as being in 3D - and I'm the sort of person who loves 3D so it's not as if I'm deliberately downplaying it (though I guess it could have been an issue with that particular projector? Not that I'll ever find out as there is no way I am every going to sit through this again!).

I knew it would be a stupid film (I can't really think of another film to compare it to off the top of my head - evolution is about as close as I can get and I loved that film) but I didn't realise it would be an unfunny, boring, predictable film - with the only reaction from the audience being at the nudity or the typical response to gore. Admittedly this is all subjective though, and plenty of people seem to like it.

I went to the film expecting it to be cheaply made unoriginal rubbish. In actual fact it's a delight, full of humour and fun.

Weird to see Christopher Lloyd and Elisabeth Shue together again though.
#18
So bad it's almost good.

Bad film - good price

What to test out 3d movie on new 3d tv, any recommendations?

Great price for one of the top 5 films of 2010. It is divisive though and I can see why some people find the humour 'stupid' or 'boring'.

At the end of the day, It's a tongue-in-cheek blood 'n boobs cheesefest about some kind of prehistoric flesh-eating piranhas terrorising a lake at Spring Break. It's not going to appeal to everybody.
#22
This was one of my favourite films of last year, yeah its stupid nonsense but I just found it great fun!

Its also great that you get both 2D and 3D versions, so even if you dont have a 3D tv at the moment you may be able to enjoy that version in the future. You also get the crappy old blue and red glasses 3D version if you wanna sit through that, so 3 versions overall.

I'm just annoyed that its come down in price so quick after buying it at launch, I should have known really.

You need to watch this on a 3D tv at home, its great and the depth is amazing, some great pop outs also, you do know 3D aint all about staged pop outs ? depth is what matters, and 3D at home is like 10 x more impressive than at the cinema.

The film is not that long I think aswell.

a film that filled with pornstars and strippers lol

I love Cameron's films but he can't really comment on this seeing as he made the abysmal Piranha 2: Flying Killers.

£7.52 + Quidco!

Bargin!

Cheers :)
#34
45p Quidco makes this a few pennies over £7 which is a total bargain for a new release 3d movie.

As much as I like Cameron's films, he has publically stated that he intends to use more and more CGI actors in preference to the real thing. I don't like that.

So this is a Stereoscopic proper 3D movie right?

Just as it comes with the red/blue glasses I wanted to check first.

It's a standard 2d movie, a red/blue glasses 2d-fake 3d movie, and a 3d stereoscopic movie requiring active shutter glasses.

Yeah I know - Avatar didn't have much stuff popping out but had huge levels of depth. I genuinely didn't notice any extra depth as opposed to a 2D showing in the cinema. Never seen a film at a 3D cinema and on a 3D TV so you're probably right then (no I won't be checking - in case I didn't make it clear before I think its dreadful!). Though if you're right I'd love to see Avatar at home, 10x more impressive would make it look incredible!

HOT price!

does anyone know whether this comes in 3D version for a 2D TV?!
