I got that for a fiver delivered from one of the Aussie retailers!

Bristoldeal - if you want this to be a generic amazon hddvd deal thread then you should maybe have a more general title......not bad prices though - voting hot.

and repping DVDbloke for listing the titles.....

Care to share where? Im still holding out for a cheaper price to be honest. I think there is going to be a massive push to clear out stock in the UK soon. We're always behond everyone else! :)

It was EZYDVD. :) I ordered that at $9.92 and one at $4.72, and with the postage, my credit card was charged £10.51 for the both of them, so £5.25 for one £5.26 for the other!

You can get Bourne Ultimatum for under £10 delivered. They were also doing Transformers for under £10 but they've put the price back up.

Co-incidently the cheap ones on those Aus sites tend to be the same "reduced" ones on Amazon.....

Great prices, Shame i have no money left! heat added.

Great prices...I wonder how much further hd dvd prices are going to fall?!

I've just mentioned on another post (don't worry I'm not going to go posting on all the HD-DVD threads, I just though I'd add to this one as it's quite populer at the minute!) that my only concern is if your HD-DVD player dies in a couple of years time. Your likely to be left with a catalogue of films that you cannot play anymore, and you won't be able to buy a new player.

I know it's a bit of a pessimistic attitude, and I do genuinely think that all these cheap HD-DVD deals are hot ones, just that people might want to remember that they are a good deal, but with a slight risk involved!

Arrgh! U must have had mine. I had an order with ezy and they said it had become unavailable and so removed it from my order. They are well sketchy with their orders, loads of stuff was available to ship, then because one item wasnt available in the order I missed out on loads of others, just cancelled a load to hopefully get the remaining parts of the orders shipping. argh! :)

Argh more money spending! Thanks again! Heat and repped!

Mike73, I had the same thoughts as you. But to solve my predicument (hopefully) I purchased another HD DVD player. I bought the offer that was posted on here recently from play for the HDEP30 for £69.99 with 7 films. Have just sold the films on ebay for a net total of £58.40, so a new HD DVD player to keep as a spare has cost me £11.59. I know this might not be every body's cup of tea, but worth considering if you are intending to build up a nice catalogue of HD DVD's as I intend to do.

I can't believe I missed out on that play.com 69.99 offer. Now just waiting patiently for the Ep35 to drop again and I'm in there
#20
Mr big, that is some bargain, £12 for a HD-DVD player! Tempted to do the same being one of thos people who are waiting for the right price for a player.

Yeah, i'm stuck with loads of video tapes which I bought back in the day for £10 a throw, same situation... If you looked at the industry like that, you wouldn't buy anything!
#22
Voted hot - waiting for Bourne and Matrix trilogies to drop in price!!
#23
Mr Big, I agree that you could always buy another player now or in a couple of months (they might get even cheaper yet!) as a guarantee. I was thinking that when I posted, but obviously forgot to mention.

Jinkz, I don't think it's quite the same. We still have loads of video tapes and a vcr but we don't watch them and have even replaced a lot with dvd as the quality and convenience is just not even close. It's going to be a LONG time before people think that their HD-DVD films are not good enough quality and should be replaced, so you'd end up replacing them because you simply cannot play them, rather than because there is something better.

Ever heard of eBay??. I can still buy myself a good condition fully working Betamax player today if I wanted so what makes you think HD DVD players will be any different a couple of years down the line. I'm sure everyone will be just fine without your patronizing advice ;-).
#25
To be fair, betamax was popular, especially in professional circles, for a heck of a lot longer.
#26
well i said last week they would drop didnt i?

only a matter of time, and hmv et al with have them for a fiver each. at that price with quidco and student code, they would be £4 each - and then i can load up on them. hd-dvd players will always be available 2nd hand....

HD DVD isnt dead. The Chinese went for it as a national standard and they have the largest market in the world so there will be plenty of cheap players available for years to come.

Fair enough, I was never trying to undermine anybody or patronise anybody as has also been suggested, I only mentioned it as something which would concern me and which other people may or mey not have considered. Nobody can possibly know what the situation will be in a couple of years, and that certainly includes me. I am still contemplating getting one of these cheap HD-DVD players for myself, and have voted all these deals hot.

Play have most of these titles at 3 for £20 delivered.

I just ordered 8 and got them for £6.66 each (once you have bought three, it doesn't look like you have to buy multiples of three)
#30
Yep, Play have stolen Amazon's thunder (or nicked their idea!), but many of the titles are £5.97 at Amazon so still a few pennies less. :) Play has good recent titles though.
#31
Arg, shame that I already got most of these from Oz, but still not bad. Hopefully they will start discounting ones that aren't from the typical pool of HDDVDs that you see from Oz retailers which has now also been taken up by Amazon uk (ie Van Helsing, Skeleton Key etc).

Check the Play.com thread! Some different/better titles in their offer.
#33
Thanks, just did that. Ordered Atonement and Waterworld (which my mate will take the mickey out of me for no doubt!) which I'm not too sure was offered in the Oz offerings (Atonement that is). But everything else at Amazon and Play.com that I would of wanted was already ordered from Oz (or at least between DvdCrave and dvdorchard it was). Their Bourne trilogy for £20 seems pretty good, comparable to the Amazon US offer. Now I'm struggling to come to a decision on Heroes :) Good value, but I've seen it before on DVD and does HD make that much of a difference to my viewing of it...

Edit: good thing they still seem to have '999' of them in stock at least! I can take some time to decide it seems.
#34
Damn too late :( Price gone back up to £63 from £22(!) for Heroes grrrrrr!
