Great band; saw them live on my 17th birthday and it was the best gig I've ever been to *drifts into distant memories of youth...*

I already have all of these of course but would recommend them all! Bargain!
#7
I see the Doolittle also available for download for £7.95 or should I get the CD for £5? HHmmm
Not really my kind of music at the time, but there were some of their tracks I really I liked.
#8
wicked! Been listening to Frank Black's solo stuff all day, that's also really good.

You should grow up; grow up and be, be a debaser.

They're cheaper by a couple of pence on Amazon, particularly better for those with Prime.

I figured with Quidco and the various 5% discounts that Play worked out cheaper and as postage is £1.45 under £5 at Amazon.........

For those that have never heard the Pixies - they are fantastic and no record collection would be complete without their 'Best of' album.

Must be a devil between us...

if the devil is six...
buy these albums. start with Doolittle+ Surfer Rosa.

I'd say forget the Best of and just get the albums... it's not like an endless back catalogue that you have to explore. Four (and a half) studio albums for £20 from a very important band is a bargain. I'd still get the B Sides and the BBC disc though.

Pixies are one of those really influential bands. When they came along they changed the way I listened to music or at least what I looked for in music. They're the band I've seen live the most and the best live gig in my life - Harlesden Mean Fiddler with Throwing Muses 1988. I've had the good fortune to work with Charles on some of his solo projects which was great (and more than a little weird).

If you haven't got these albums then treat yourself.

Totally agree

Best of is fine for casual, but splash out on the others. All fantastic. Even sound better now than they did back then, Is that 'cos modern music is rubbish?

Get them all. You'll buy the best of then either miss out on the rest or end up double dipping on tracks. Brilliant, brilliant band.

hot hot hot fantastic band

Still amazes me even getting in to middle age, that bands like Coldplay, Keane and Red Hot Chilli Peppers (and other insipid bands) are now lauded and at the time The Pixies were largely ignored my the mainstream.

Couple of omissions from the best of, but hey for a fiver it is all good and it saves me digitising my vinyl, which I have promised I will do for at least 3 years!

Lol @ you guys, you sound like your dad, and his dad before him. The world hasn't changed, you have. The best music has never been mainstream, when you get older you get cut off from the underground so everything appears to decline. Music is great right now, technology is causing a renaissance, seek and ye shall find.

Great price for a fantastic body of work from a very influential band.

Forget the Best Of though...

I like The Beatles:thumbsup:

Seriously. I still listen to todays music, not just Radio 1 carp, and there are a good few bands I like today; but I genuinly think The Pixies still sound fresh today.

Well said mate ;-) There has never been such a broad range and depth of music, unfortunately all the lightweight froth (the sh!te!) ends up on top, so unless your prepared to dive the depths and find the good stuff, you'll only ever hear the sh!t. RIP John Peel, he was the last real mainstream ray of light left, and now he's long gone :-(

Checking out the 1000's, (probably tens of thousands more like) of net radio stations is a good place to start ;-)

Pixies - Velouria, is my fave track of theirs ;-)
