A good deal if anyone has any McDonalds vouchers / student discount - best price online atm.
From the creators of BLUE PLANET comes this epic depiction of life on Earth. PLANET EARTH was a mammoth undertaking and was the result of more than 2000 days of production, filmed across 200 different locations around the world.

If you've got a bluray player, this is definately worth the extra £12. It's really breath-taking!

Thanks OP, H&R. I'll add this to my David Attenborough collection.
I currently have the following by the granddaddy of this genre:

The Life Of Mammals

Attenborough In Paradise

Trials Of Life

The Living Planet

Life In The Undergrowth

The Blue Planet

And now: Planet Earth
Does anyone know of any others he has done:?:

Thanks.

No Quidco, though.

I think I'll go for the Blu-Ray version :) Put my PS3 to good use.

Very tempted.

£25 seems about right for an impulse buy of a TV series.

i am not impressed with the blue ray. yes the pictures are stunning blah blah....... but theres alot of scenes where you get picture interference and whitish snow

There's white dots through out the documentary that ruin the picture, especially that angel falls scene. its awful watching that.

btw i got a sony v3000
using ps3
been watching on 1080p apparently the snowy stuff is not as much on 1080i but you can still see it.

Cheers for this - heat added and ordered!

Tempted by the Blu-Ray version, but not all of it is Blu-Ray, and you don't get many of the extras - such as 'the making of' each episode. Besides, DVD upscaled isn't far off Blu-Ray at all. It'll more than do for me, especially at half the price.

Yes, there were some noise issues with some of the footage in Planet Earth, especially during low light stuff shot under rainforest canopies.

The entire show was post produced in high def of course, and the down-conversion would have softened things slightly. The very finest noise detail would very likely have been lost during this process, so it's true that any problems with the footage are often more noticeable at HD.

Yeah - about as helpful as your comment. The poster was just highlighting the fact that this set has been available around the £10 mark for ages. I also think that this isn't a great deal, as it's currently £10 in dagenham asda. Personally, I'm waiting for the blu-ray set to come down in price.

Not voted either way.
