in 6 months time, with no new media, is that hd-dvd player really going to be taking up real estate under your tv?

cheap for what it is but not a good price for something this dead. to me, this would be £17 i can put towards a bluray player or some other more future proof way ( HTPC ) of getting HD to my tv.

Or get a combo drive then buy on whichever format is cheapest ;-)

Failing that the 360 HD-DVD drive doesn't take up much space.

Theres also an LG full sized player but its pretty pricey. If you want dual format then theres several pc based players and writers.

ahh hd-dvd i remember that, this time last year some people still thought it had a future.... or rather we're claiming it had won the format war.

HD DVD is dead, thats a fact, I have over 60 HD DVD's including this but there are well over 450 films available which to me is sound investment... they only stopped making films for HD DVD back in September..

In fact WALMART reported stronger sales for HD DVD than Blu Ray last month, and if you look at HMV today and click the Blu Ray tab you will notice that 3 of the top sellers are HD DVD!

the Financial times actually talked about a BOOM for HD DVD and PC World have now started to Re-stock Toshiba & Xbox HD DVD Players....

Dont get me wrong it is dead and never going to be relaunched, but I just hate it when people say its yesterdays technology when everyone knows including sony that it was far superior to Blu Ray....

the only reason Blu ray won was because they had deep enough pockets to pay the studios to work with them Rather than HD DVD...

I feel sorry for all the people who bought Earlier Blu ray players, as they wont play all the new Blu Ray movies without an update!

by the way, great boxset, the best one I own, and if you dont own it and have an XBOX then buy it and then go to Ebay and buy a HD DVD Drive for about £20!

the 360 hd-dvd drive is a great upscaler and unobtrusive.

I dont have quite have as many as darrenwooly (i only have 25 titles) but i will pick a few more up b4 they disappear entirely and have picked up a load of bargains (where the hd-dvd has been considerably cheaper than the normal dvd).

I totally agree, this may seem like a bargain, but its a hd dvd youll eventually get the urge to replace with a blu ray and you all know it!
