After searching looks like US & UK versions are both
1080p.The UK version has an extra disc Snow Leopards
and that is 1080i and why at first it was thought the UK was
1080i.

if this is the yank version then i think that its sigourney weaver narrating and not the legendary attenborough which is just wrong to not have the main mans voice on something like this.

I think there were two releases in US this one is David Attenborough
pending double checking.

Both were 1080p. Most early bbc hd-dvd discs incorrectly labeled them 1080i. They will both contain the same vc1 code

Yes I remembered after and on checking its just Snow Leopards(disc 5)
which why it was said to be 1080i,on dvd forums I think it was.

Are you positive this isn't the US version? My UK one is not in a Amaray Plastic HD DVD box like this, its in a cardboard gatefolded sleeve inside a cardboard slipcase.

Its a US release of the UK series, its the BBC version and is exactly the same first
4 discs but does not have the extra fifth disc Desert Lions/ Snow Leopards(1080i) thats why it comes in
a 4 disc amaray unlike the UK digipack. If you read the early part of the thread there
is another US release(inferior)with Sigourney Weaver commentary(unavailable anyway)I thought
it was worth posting as people still seem to be buying 360 HD add on and picking up cheap players.
Seems to be almost like tactical voting on here, never realised you could give heat on own deal, made it hot
2 seconds later down to 65 is it worth bothering lol.

I haven't voted!....I wondered which is what, was curious, I was aware of that Sigourney Weaver commentary US version, but was unaware they did albeit minus a disk a re-release in the US, sans Sigourney Weaver, seems odd why they issued two releases in the US I have to say.

It was made by the BBC and part funded by the Discovery Channel and NHK in Japan. Guess thats why Discovery released there own version and used the more american friendly voice of Sigourney weaver. There was also a theatrical movie released by disney that used the footage from the series. "Earth" did some serious money at the box office too. $100m in the states.

I asume it was voted cold as soon as it got on the hot page. Ignorant Bluray fanboys who wouldnt know a top nature doc if it bit them on the backside. This set is tv history and something all brits should be proud of

Hmmm, should I buy it, is the extra UK disk worth getting that one instead?

Of course if you can find a decent second hand copy on Ebay.
