Hot from me, both of them great series

I recently got Freesat and Life in HD is absolutely stunning. How will this compare to Blue Ray? I think Blue Ray is at 1080p but the BBC HD is 'only' 1080i? Could I tell the difference?
Thanks.

great deal, awesome series too!
#13
why the link says "No. of Disks: 1" ??:?:

I was quite shocked earlier when I saw the Life series was 10 episodes, we're only up to number 4 and they seem to have covered a lot of bases already :)

Yeah plus the bitrates have recently been cut by 40% on BBC HD so the bluray will almost certainly look obviously better:thumbsup:

I have just had planet earth delivered today after buying the asda £17.91 deal.
It says on the box that it is 1080i resolution and not 1080p, can that be right? after hearing for ages about the fantastic picture quality I was sure it must be full hd.I have been watching Life on sky HD and it has a good picture, but I was hoping that the BR of planet earth would be even better.

"Planet Earth" on Blu-Ray IS 1080p. The only reason the box states 1080i is because the additional extras disc is actually 1080i and the BBC had to cover themselves to avoid accusations of false advertising.

"Life", I believe has been filmed in higher definition than Planet Earth was (which as far as I know was shot using 720p HD cameras). "Nature's Great Events" was also filmed at a higher resolution.

Yeah and it really suffers because of it. Some of the scenes with say thousands or fish or birds looks absolutely awful. Hoping the BBC do a better encode compared to planet earth as Life could potentially be reference material.

Loved the reptiles episode of Life. That bouncing pebble toad cracked me up :p though it was pretty sad when the komodos tracked and finally got the buffalo :?

I'm surprised to hear complaints about the BBC HD channel bitrates.
Their standard def channels on Freeview are ridiculously high compared to other channels.

Love Film cancelled my quidco last 2 times i used for no apparant reason

Oh well this is a damn good deal. I just posted the Life set on it's own for £31.44, but for anyone who doesn't have Planet Earth either, they should definitely go for this! Hot!

When i first gor Freesat 12 months ago BBC HD looked amazing but now it just looks okay all of the pin sharp edges and detail have dissapeared compared to before, many forums have been speaking about this for months now, actually the BBC not only slashed the bitrates by 40% but at the same time they changed their encoders which as a double whammy was meant to help with the lower bitrates but has actually worked out worse.

Has this code expired? everytime I try to apply the discount code it states that 'a discount code has already been applied'
