Next cheapest £51.39 @ amazon & no quidco

Watched the first episode of life last night on bbc hd & it looked fantastic so it's going to look spectacular on blu ray. Seems a good price to me as planet earth is £25 by itself.

Works out at approx £44.50 after quidco :)

I would buy this except I have Planet Earth already. I also want Last Chance to See with Stephen Fry. Looking forward to Blue Planet (series) on Blu too

This is one type of programming which looks great in HD. Some films are hardly any different than DVD, but natural history is amazing.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there's a code for free delivery also, saving £2.45. BBCR08 is the code.

I've ordered this myself. Fantastic deal and Quidco has tracked already at £3.41 - meaning it'll cost just £44.54 - and considering Planet Earth is pretty much £25 everywhere on Blu Ray, that means Life is less than £20 - absolute bargain!

good price but i already have planet earth on hd-dvd - imported it a few weeks ago from secondspin for £7!! and it looks amazing, and thats on a hd-dvd player.

are bbc repeating Life episode 1? gutted i missed it, the rest are in my planner now :)

Wonder if this is 1080p or (presumably) 1080i as broadcast by the BBC...
#14
most blu rays are 1080i
#15
That is for TV programming of course....

99% of blu rays are 1080p actually

The reason it's broadcast in 1080i is because satellite can't stream 1080p as it's too much information for streaming. It's actually better to watch your hd stuff in 720p rather than 1080i as 1080i is just 540p doubled up.

For anyone just looking for the Life box set - appears to be cheapest at Base.com - £34.95 delivered - http://www.base.com/DVD/Life-Blu-Ray/BBCBD0055/product.htm

First ep of Life was brilliant, the footage of the monkeys bashing their nuts....ahem....was astounding.

And has Blue Planet actually been confirmed for Blu-Ray?

Err, i know, hence the query, if this is FULL HD or not.

That's pretty dependant on the TV. Why would you reduce the picture information by half (which is what happens when you re-scale to 720 from 1080) then upscale (which re-samples the 720 image not the original 1080 image, making up from nowhere half of the picture information) back to 1080, then re-interlace the image? The less conversion that takes place the better.
