The scripts were ingenious reflecting situations happening around the world at the time, dealing with racism and violence; two timeless concepts that are still strike home today. Planet Of The Apes Charlton Heston and three other astronauts are blasted out into space in a ship capable of travelling at the speed of light. Their mission is to explore and see what s out there. Upon crashing on a distant planet they set off to find out what sort of world they have landed on. Coming across a group of natives, mute and caveman-like they presume that these are the only inhabitants of the planet. Then fate plays a cruel trick on them; the real dominant species are intelligent talking apes who treat mankind as nothing more than wild animals. On this world the evolutionary ladder has been turned upside down and apes are the rulers. Heston plays Taylor, a cynical man who wants to leave Earth behind, who finds himself at the mercy of the apes, fighting for his life and fighting to be recognised as an intelligent man.
Beneath The Planet Of The Apes Another space craft has been dispatched from earth to find the missing astronauts, this one also crashes on the same planet, Brent the only survivor sets out to find Taylor only to stumble into the strange world of the apes. Taylor is being held by human mutants who live in the underground world of a destroyed New York, the mutants have psychic powers that have been brought about by exposure to radiation, they also worship an atomic bomb that has become their god. The apes know of their existence and set out to go to war with them, wanting to rid the planet of humans once and for all.
Escape From The Planet Of The Apes Intelligent apes, Zira and Cornelius, from the future crashland on Earth in the 1970s, treated suspiciously at first the apes prove to be friendly and very similar to in thinking to humans. Though under question from government officials the truth about what happens to Earth in the future begins to come out. The news that Zira is pregnant sparks a fear that apes could possibly take over the world, leading to a witch-hunt as the apes run for their lives.
Conquest Of The Planet Of The Apes After a plague from outer space wipes out all the cats and dogs man turns to apes for pets, at first treating them kindly then turning them slowly into slaves when its realised how well apes good they are at doing nominal tasks. The child of the two intelligent apes, Caesar, has been hidden away for many years and emerges into a world where apes are ruled cruelly by man. As he sees more and more cruelty piled on his brother apes he begins to organise a revolution, one that he hopes will put an end to ape enslavement and put them in charge of humans.
Battle For The Planet Of The Apes After the revolution brought about by Caesar the world is now a desolated place, man fought ape as well as his fellow man and the Earth ended up as a nuclear wasteland. Now man and apes try to live together in an uneasy harmony, with apes having the edge over man as the leaders. Caesar travels intoone of the desolate cities to try and find out more information about his parents, once in the city though they disturb the humans still living there, humans that are suffering from nuclear radiation. As Caesar escapes back to his city the mutants follow him, determined to try and wipe out the ape threat once and for all.
