Just a word of warning that this stick can take upwards of 1 hour to write the full 16gb which can be fustrating when moving several large (1GB+) files to it
Nevertheless, it is perfectly perfunctory for small files.

A much quicker option is the Bytestor 16gb stick from Amazon @ £17.99 - which is the best budget stick around. Similar in colour, hard wearing and has a light to indicate when it is in use (before yanking it out mid-write). Well worth it for the time it will save you!

Just a word of warning that this stick can take upwards of 1 hour to write 16gb which can be fustrating when moving several large (1GB+) files to it - and I'm guessing this would be the case with a 16gb stick. However, it is perfectly perfunctory for small files.

A much more quicker option is the Bytestar 16gb stick from Amazon though it is £17.99. Well worth it for the time it will save you!

how long does that take to write 16gb?

why is it so slow compared to the other?

The read and write speeds are painfully slow, so kinda defeats the purpose of such a large capacity drive.

I have a Corsair GTR which averages at about 20-24MB/s write and 30-34 read speeds. Blazing!

The Bytestar mentioned above has speeds of approx 15MB/s write and 30MB/s read, so at a guess will be on average about 3 times faster than the Play drive.

In other words, given the choice, the extra £2.49 spent at Amazon will give you a FAR superior drive that won't leave you feeling frustrated.

price for storage capacity is good so voted hot. Prices for this capacity have been too high for too long but I guess that as long as we buy the things then prices aren't going to move.

It's the ByteStor Dataferry 16GB stick that previous posters are referring to and it's currently 17.49 at Amazon. This is easily the fastest 16GB USB stick for under 20 quid full stop and when you've got a large capacity like this, speed *does* become important. Yes, I have the Bytestor stick and I totally recommend it, even if I did lose the cap not longer after getting it :-) Forget the play.com one from the original poster - pay 17% more and don't have to sit around for 200-500% longer waiting for the play.com stick to finish reading/writing...

I agree with what the 1st comment says about the slow write speed. I bought this not long ago as I was happy with the speed of my previous 8gb USB stich which could write 1gb per minute (give or take a few seconds) but this 16gb version takes at least twice as long
