This comes complete with a key ring so you can transfer your files on the move.

Its a preorder - and the delvery is a day or two after 14/08/2008

I would guess this would hold 99% of people's music collections - which means if your car has a USB MP3 connection - you will have space for over 4000 tracks (at 128k and lasting roughly 4 mins).

Or carry over 20 VCD format full length films with you, or more pictures than anyone has probably taken in their entire life.

Agree, great price but terrible write speeds...

Ok if you're not shifting to many large files around I guess!

I've still got my 128MB version of this on my car keys - it's one of the most useful things I've ever had!

And I was given it for free at a conference.

On a 16gb stick, what else will you do with it?!?! :p

12mb read but 3mb write speed that is extremely slow, it should be at least 7mb in my opinion. Not ideal for backing up large files.

price is good however.

I can't remember which company actually makes these but they are really really bad quality. Yes it's cheap but there's a good chance it will break.

I think reliability is very important. I once had a cheap generic USB stick and it just stopped working all of a sudden. I had some important info backed up on it which was lost. You'd be much better off paying £5-£10 more and getting a USB stick from a top manufacturer like OCZ or Corsair. The reliability and performance will be much better.

Check out some decent 16GB USB sticks here for only a few quid more........ http://www.ebuyer.com/search?page=2&store=2&cat=36&subcat=405&sort=pricehigh&limit=10

thanks ibiza and to everyone for the info shared

didn't realise the write speed was low and as i will be constantly backing up and using the info on there i will look out for the faster ones!

voted hot cause of the value!

also SanDisk Cruzer 16GB USB Flash Drive on play site seems to be released soon.. hopefully that price will go down swiftly!

Seems like only yesterday (when I got my 1st PC), that my hard drive totalled just more than this for storage... Madness!

Hot vote!

It's cheap flash memory that's why the read/write speed is so slow. Ideal for backup/archive purposes where you don't need to be reading/writing files often.

Yes, 3MB/s write is lamentably slow. 3 MB/s was a design point for < 2GB memory. At 16 GB , this is 16,000 MB which takes a total of 5333 seconds to write to (that's nearly one and a half hour!). So this flash stick is useful for more archive use and not for transferring large chunks of data about frequently. It is well worth paying >£10 more for 18-20 MB/s transfer speed .
