That's a very good price - voted hot. Remember paying about the same price for my 1gb not too long ago.

I've nowt to add about the card itself, but just wanted to add that the last time I pre-ordered electronics from Play.com (insert tension-building pause here) it was dispatched on release date, and arrived just a few days later. Play seem excellent at this pre-order lark. Voted hot just for that.

For £1 more you can get the same card from the same place but with Bonus MobileMate Micro Reader for £17.99 delivered .......and it's In Stock ! :thumbsup:

It may be 8GB but I know what you mean. If its class (8) let me know.
#6
well the picture shows the 8 within the class symbol is what i mean i am not confusing this with the 8gb :)
the description doesn't mention class.
released on the same date as sandisk premiers on play - possible rebrand of standard sandisks? no idea.

Sandisk only go up to Class 6 and if u look closely at the pic it looks doctored....:?

On top of that Class 8 doesn't exist .....LOL

yeah i know about the other brands classes which is why i wasn't really believing it :)
thats why i suggested a rebrand of a current card.
just looked at enlarged and yeah the 8 is way too sharp to be a genuine pic.

Very good deals really! hot hot hot~~

fourth post one is definetly class 4

talking about the one with the class 8 picture which the topic was about.
#13
Tempted to buy, but I don't know what model HTC PDA my work are giving me next week =(

Hopefully they'll still be in stock when I get the PDA.
#14
Does anyone know if this is the right card for the EOS 450d
What speed is it?
Cheers

Nah, bet it a class 4. Play.com just photoshopped it from "4" to "8" as they thought it represent the gigabyte size. It just show Play.com are not that technical minded :p. I wouldn't go for a 8gb mircosd sdhc unless it a class 6 at least. Sandisk always provide to slower speed. Kington has faster speed.

Good price nevertheless.

The EOS 450d camera take the normal SDHC size card. But usually Microsd SDHC provide an adapter anyway so should work on the EOS 450d camera. But might be better get a faster speed, at least from a Class 6 and upward. Also it cheaper to buy an normal SDHC size memory card instead of an Microsd SDHC card.

Did you read the other Sandisk 8GB MicroSD thread? Read/Write averaging around 15 MBps at least (class 4).

I wouldn't expect that from this card though imho.

According to wikipedia:

wikipedia
SDHC cards have SD Speed Class Ratings defined by the SD Association. The SD Speed Class Ratings specify the following minimum write speeds based on "the best fragmented state where no memory unit is occupied":[16]

* Class 2: 2 MB/s
* Class 4: 4 MB/s
* Class 6: 6 MB/s

SDHC cards will often also advertise a maximum speed (such as 133x or 150x) in addition to this minimum Speed Class Rating. See section Speeds above for a further explanation. One critical difference between the Speed Class the maximum speed ratings is the ability of the host device to query the SD card for the speed class and determine the best location to store data that meets the performance required. "Maximum speed" ratings are unofficial and have no formal evaluation process..

There's an 8gb sdhc on ebuyer (http://www.ebuyer.com/product/136210/show_product_overview) for £17.03 that's "Class 6 and 150x speed". Which is the better value?
#21
sheesh stop replying to my post about it saying class 8 - i know its not class 8.
people need to learn to read threads before responding to random posts within threads with no understanding of the background. (not just this thread)
random stupid questions about things already cleared up and multiple posts in a row adressing 'issues' as they get to them are the usual signs.

raz - thats not a microsdhc so not really comparable.

i dont think its a particualrly hot deal until know the actual performance of the cards anyway.
As posted sandisk class 4 has a nice reader inclused for £1 more and has performance vastly exceeding supplied spec.
If its just storage you are after though this is good.

It says its compatable with the samsung g800, but ive heard the max it will take is a 4gb, anyone know if it will take this 8gb card?

dunno......but it works superb with the DSTT card !! :thumbsup:
#26
jus ordered a acekard2, jus for the fact that the dstt doesnt put games in alphabetical order. Ive read that the acekard is good with the class 6 cards tho, so was jus wondering if people had experience with this one with the acekard2.

you own 2 of the play 8gb micro sd which aren't released until a month away?.. k
If it is infact the sandisk 8gb class 4 then id like you to show me where on this thread it is stated that the play card is a rebadged sandisk.
just because you brought up the sandisk class 4 that doesn't mean the thread is about that - you'd know that if you read this thread.
