a good price for 8gb voted hot

play also offer branded, faster models for a few extra quid if that's what you're after. Link

Got me the PNY Optima a few weeks back which so far as been excellent - very quick. "Writing & reading speed: 10MB/s & 25MB/s"

Good deal. I have 2 1Gb sticks, but they do me well enough as the most I transfer is uni files, which are usually very small. Heat still added though.

I'm a bit tempted as this could be useful for me, but every pen drive I have had so far has broken on me, so I don't know if they're all that reliable.

What are you doing to them? Even when I bought a cheapo ebuyer stick which I thrashed mercilessly and put it through the wash it still lasted me a year...

My first one was a kingston one I think and I got about a year out of that, the one afterwards was a piece of cheap **** and it lasted a month.

With these USB drives, do they have a cap? What I worry is that if it is linked to my keys, is it possible that that the actually usb part will fall off? This happened to me in the past with USB drives.

thanks

Yes. You can see the cap on the end in the picture.

I have three of these. Very quick and reliable.

4GB corsair flash voyager £12.50. Rugged, water resistant and with a 10 year warranty - should be pretty reliable.
