saved myself 1p! woohoo!

some nice items added tho. have some heat.

Nothing special - the odd good DVD and gadget, but there's a pretty good sale in the clothing section. Tis a shame they never offer us any video games for £5!
#3
One of these days, Play.com is going to start selling Sofas. I just know it.

True, Rise Of The Footsoldier is the cheapest I've seen but a lot have gone up, Starship Troopers was £3.99 recently at Play

Can't see anything good, any recommendations?
#6
I'm really disappointed - it looks just like Play selling off stock at "normal" prices ... i.e. they've knocked some money off RRP, big deal, I thought they did that anyway!

Book I bought from Play a few weeks ago for £3.99 has gone up to £5 in their 'sale'.

Voted ice cold from me I'm afraid. :( Not sure why so many people are voting hot.

Ace
Had one from play last year - now I get to have my own (damn kids pinched my original lol)

Yeah bad. I voted cold, beacause play seem to do this in order to increase the price of some products, offsetting the decrease in others. In their 1.99/2.99 dvd sale earlier this year, I bought walking with penguins and soon after the £5 sale came around and the price increased to £5.

It's a bit like some small retailers. When they do a sale such as BOGOF, a few weeks before the promotion, they increase the price of the product.

I love these Play 'offers' where they put items that were previously less than £5 up to £5 and then call it a 'sale'. Top stuff! Keep up the good work, Play ;-)

Agreed!

They'd started to price these up yesterday. I grabbed 3:10 To Yuma, Rescue Dawn and No Country For Old Men. They were posted this morning.

This is the whole mentality of the British culture, they lap up all the presentation skills and spin. The public absolutely loves spin and waffly flowery presentation. Everyone votes on someone who is articulate and packaged up nice, no body wants to know the savvy facts. (When I say "no", of course there is always the 5% who go by the facts and extremely clued up, like the ones on this forum!). So this sales promotion works just like when politicians say: " We shall cut taxes" and which costs us more taxes in total but true that one type of tax is cut! However having said all this, the scheme works in favour of all hotukdeals readers as the non hotukreaders will pay more and subsidise us folks on this forum as we are more savvy and only buy those ones which are really cheaper! As for the tactics, still hot deal when one can find the stuff which was more than £5!
#35
One or two thing ok-sih, 30 days of night is good, but not much else.
#36
Charlie Wilson's War (dvd) is cheaper than anywhere else (next cheapest is Tesco Jersey @ £6.00).
#37
hmmm, don't be fooled by everything in this sale though as Play have been sneaky, as certain items that would normally cost LESS have been bumped up to £5! :?

I know this as I bought I Am Legend paperback for £2.99 delivered a few months back - now £5

Plus the Chocolate Fondue Set clearly used to be £3.99, see the reviews on item!!

Just my two cents, although can't fault the deal on the Vortex Howler!! :p

EDIT: ** already been pointed out I see, that'll teach me for not reading, at least I provided a linked example :P **
#38
1408 is a very good DVD
#39
Got vortex mega howler thingy only £4.75 with 5% voucher, thanks jordan88 - every little helps!!!

Voted cold as the three books I wanted to buy have gone up in price from £3.99 to £5.:x
