Thanks for your first post shell99 and Welcome to HotUKDeals too :)

Please include a little more information in posts if you can ;-) Thanks!

An RRP of £122 for a 9600SE is way inflated.

I think these are a tad over priced, froogle finds them for about 40quid without lookin too hard, and ebay has them for 30 quid inc delivery.
Still not a bad price tho, but you can probably find them cheaper.
Play are being a bit cheeky with there pricing on this one:viking:

A poor price indeed, 9800 Pro's are floating around second hand that eat this card alive for similar prices.

how many notches does the board have please 1 or 2? if you know that is :-p

Hercules stopped making graphics cards around two years ago.

This card is AGP. Graphics cards over the past few years are AGP or PCI-E, with AGP slowly fading in the distance. Modern computers from decent builders will have only PCI-E slots. Very few, if any, modern graphics cards are built with the AGP standard.

'How many notches' is ambiguous, especially with RAM - where DDR + DDR2 look the same but the notches are in a different place, and most motherboards wont accept the other.

The number of notches can/does matter with AGP cards, AGP Pro cards will be longer and have an extra notch. I doubt if this an AGP Pro card though and any motherboard that could accept an AGP Pro card will also accept an ordinary AGP card such as this one.

yeah, not worth it now.

something like this would work out better for a similar price :

a 6200 geforce - agp - http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx?Quicklinx=3MGH&CategorySelectedId=11137&NavigationKey=11137,42220000

9600's are O L D. The £93 reduction is cause they were released in 2002!

Thanks to bridge chips that ati and nvidia have made you can find, on the ati side, X1300, X1600, X1650 and X1950 ranges available on agp, while on the nvidia side its possible to find 7300,7600 and 7800's all available. (all this found on www.ebuyer.com )

AGP aint dead yet!

Sorry but that's way, way over priced ...an SE card also has crippled memory pathways or a slower core (memory is usually 128 bit instead of 256 bit). Its goes (from slow to fast) 9600 SE, 9600, 9600 Pro and 9600XT. The Radeon 9X00 range are old classics tho...I still have one (funnily enough a Hercules 9600 Pro and a Connect 3D 9800 Pro).

An ATi Sapphire X1950 Pro 512MB AGP can be had for £149.99 and will wipe the floor with any other AGP based card...:)

You will also find a 256MB variant going around for £129.99  shop about :)

Seems unfair to rate cold :? ...Play.com is the last place I would buy GFX cards from :whistling: PCI Express is the way forward but many peeps are still hanging onto AGP based systems...as ATi have just figured out :giggle:
