Got mine delivered earlier this week and set it up today... really easy to set up and the quality of picture is great. Some channels are a bit iffy, but that's down to the area I'm in - our other freeview receivers have this problem too. Really pleased with mine, just waiting for the series link update now, here's hoping :)

With this you can only record the one channel, and not two channels like with the standalone freeview recorders (Humax, Topfield etc..). But for £35, this is well worth it for a freeview recorder.

If you run it on a PC, it will allow recording of two at once... although its main use is obviously in a PS3 when you can only do one as you say.

It has 2 tuners. thats how you can record one channel and watch another at the same time.
For some reason...maybe processor or hard drive reasons the PS3 doesn't allow dual recording thats all.

You use Google and in a few seconds you find the answer. If that's too much effort then here's a link >

Where can I download the PlayTV software? My friend cant find his DVD and isn't online, so I need to download it for him.

I cant see it on anywhere online...

this was less effort

How the hell is this hot? Its been sub £30 most places for ages now, most notably at currys for £23 new. You can even get it used for sub 30, and its not like you need it new anyway, its only a small black box.

It only came out 2 years ago, when it was more like £70 (not sure the exact amount)

It isn't Sony's fault it can't do HD, they changed transmission format for HD from the normal DVB-T to (unlike Europe and Australia who kept the DVB-T format so this can receive HD channels in those places)

Either way though, it still upscales the SD content VERY well so there's no worry it's going to look bad on your HDTV.

if u have freeview theres no point in this really is there

You will need the original disc to run this on the PS3. No other way as far as I know (Unless you can download it via the playstation store).

Why is this voted so hot, its 24.99 in gamestation brand new? and you can pick it up instore rather than wait for delivery. And these are really good for allsorts, not just the freeview- you can use it to control all the functions and access your ps3 from a psp anywhere in the world with wifi. This is great in places such as an airport or on holiday as it turns your psp into a tv or you can watch films stored on your hard drive, or music etc so no need to take loads of devices to occupy yourself or the kids.

Would just like to point out to people living in the past that they are no longer available at the low prices we once had... for 2-3 months I kept checking game, gameplay, hmv etc etc and all of them had no stock either online or in any stores either... the ones that did have stock were selling them at an average price of around £60.... so now that they've dropped again to a reasonable price this is a hot deal.

Got this for £25 from Currys about 8 months ago. It's not HD but its good for recording the F1 or whatever else thats shown on Freeview anyway. Can even record whilst playing a game.

Its a great product, and would highly recommend it. Although PlayTV 2 will be out next year sometime so I would wait for that if you haven't got it currently. Just a heads up for anyone that has it already, there will be an update before the end of the year that will cost you - but will add a few new features such as a series link button.
