Saw this in the Liverpool Lord Street store in the window. Never had my phone on me so I could not get a picture sorry. But I thought it was a decent price so I thought I would post it. Am guessing this nation wide but all depends of your local has this in stock.

Anyone know if/how well this would work with a portable aerial?

Just saw this deal in Runcorn store too and guy confirmed it is nation wide.

@lewiep thiw works very well with a portable ariel on a pc, it also still gives you the ability to record live tv. You will need to just obtain the windows drivers and get some free software for the channels etc. Use it in work :-)

No - it only broadcasts/records the digital Freeview channels - no analogue.

I bought a £40 one4all ariel from Tesco and tried it with this and it didn't work. Depends on how strong the reception in your area is.

if you can get a freeview signal through a portable aerial, it'll work with this too, as it's basically a set top box that plugs into your ps3.

I bought this at £30 and never use it :( PS3 has to be on all the time basically and if you're recording something while playing a game of course the game's performance is going to suffer dramatically.

See at this price @ Haywards Heath store

Why is it £24.99 brand new online and £55 preowned lol

Well, the console has to be on for the duration of the recording. If you choose to play games on the console for longer than the programme if televised that is up to you.

Have you tried to record live TV & play a game concurrently?

If so, what did you play? Was it a single-player offline title, or an online/multi-player one?

So you will think "What a bargain" or "Wow! A mis-price" & not bother looking elsewhere for a cheaper one.

If you mean by the fact you need to leave the PS3 to be able to record stuff when you aren't there, well you're wrong. The PS3 will turn itself on and then off once finished with any recordings you setup.

very good price, its much better than recording onto video!

I have this for my PS3 and I think it is fantastic.

The console needs to be left on standby, like any PVR would, and will switch itself on/off to record. With regards gaming and recording, I have noticed no impact on game performance whilst the PlayTV is recording.

You have to leave the PS3 in standby all the time obviously and that already takes some juice but then the PS3 has to be fully on when it automatically turns itself on to record stuff. That's what I mean.

God of War 3 stutters and slows down like hell when something is recording for me. It depends on the game I suppose.

I have this, paid £31.50 used. Works really well, I have recorded and exported loads of TV and movies to USB. If I saw it for £15 I'd probably rebuy and use with my Laptop.

By the by, I use Handbrake to convert to mp4. The m2ts files that PlayTV creates can be quite big.

I think I might get Play TV I'll have to ask if my local Gamestation has any because I didn't see any on the shelves. I seen a women at a car boot sale last week trying to sell Play TV for £20 no wonder she couldn't sell it especially with a good deal like this from Gamestation.

same price at cex.

I heard whispers a few months back that they're gonna release a HD version of this towards the end of the year
#23
For 15 quid this is a bargain. I have a 47inch full HD tv and the picture is more than adequate. Really good if you have a PSP to link up via remote play so you can watch either live tv or recorded programmes on it while in the bath!! :)

I have recorded and played games at the same time (online and SP) and haven't had any issues, but I havent got GoW3 so cant comment for that games.

hi i have a 'games tv' which currently has no aerial connection or internet connection (not for want of trying!) so will this device still pick up the channels? assume i'm going to need an aerial at the very least.

On a side note i have been trying to get online with my ps3 but it never picks up the internet connection? i'm with orange livebox and even got a 'computer expert' to try to get me connected with no joy! any ideas - it's been a while since i tried to connect but from memory the stumbling block was the connection codes entered never worked for some reason - despite trying numerous formats.

Thanks for any help folks

It's ran off your aerial, if it ran off the internet you wouldn't need this additional box, it would be software based....

You will need a physical (coaxial cable) TV aerial & a Television Licence.

Does your PS3 connect to your Internet connection (wireless?) in another room of the property?

If wireless, have you been able to use your PS3 via a wired connection?

What connection settings ("codes"?) has your "expert" set-up on the console for you?

Are you using a Wireless router?

There are so many variables here, but we are going to need a little more detail to get you online.

Hope you never PAID this so called computer expert, it's not difficult to connect to the internet, if you orange live box has wireless enabled (which it's defaulted to) and is within range then your PS3 will find it and will be able to connect using the password for the orange box. If you PS3 can't find it then it may be faulty. Have you tried a newtowkr cable between the orange box and your PS3?

Just brought mine & cancelled Sky Woooooooo! :)

...now does anyone know where you can get a cheap official remote please? :)

many thanks for the replies folks. I have been trying to connect via wireless using the orange password but with no joy at all (wireless connection for the laptop works perfect all over the house). Which cable do you recommend for a cable connection to see if it works pls?
#33
Probably not much help mate, but my friend had a PS3 and orange livebox, and it took forever to get the two linked up. Can't remember how I fixed it, but his brother messed with the settings and stopped it working so had to hardwire it in the end.

Might be worth changing the encryption type and the password.

cheers will give it a go tried it in past with pinnacle drivers and it worked so so, but my Cinergy XS has died and left with only a dvbs tuner so would be nice to have twin tuners again
